Correct me if i'm wrong, But isn't that kindof disabling Gilsellers from sending people gil?

If someone buys, Say 50M, It's gonna take a hell of a long time for the gilseller to send it to them.

I thought this was a very good idea. I guess its a bummer for HNMLSes for distributing gil but definately makes delivering bought gil very difficult. :)

I'm actually very curious as to how they will get around this...I guess if someone bought say 1000k gil, the only way would be a trade window. RMT is such a complex issue...at least SE is doing something about it.

WOOTGA!!

This is a brilliant move!

In my opinion this move will do a great deal to curb gil buying in general. A person that would cheat and buy gil does so out of being lazy. In order to recieve the bought gil, the buyer would have to sit in mog and recieve 1 mil, wait for the rotten ******* (gilseller) to send another mil, clear that and repeat the process. Only one of the 8 slots can hold gil. While this isn't a terrible process, 1. It will just plain be annoying and time consuming. 2. And this is the kicker, it will be much more tracable and noticable to a GM which could be set up to monitor such transactions. While SE hasn't released that they will be doing this, it seems to me to be the next logical step.

Perhaps I may be giving SE a little too much credit, but the past few months have made it very clear that something big has to be done. While I personally made quite a nice chunk of gil, I honestly felt guilty about it a number of times. I lowered the price considerably on some of the items I make and sell regularly, but having to pay so much more on everything I bought made that very difficult. The overall effect of all this tended to lower my total enjoyment of crafting, so I am certain that I made less advancement in that area as I would have had the market been pure. This is just my personal view of the situation, I am very sure that some people just loved the market being flooded with excess gil giving them the ability to make a killing. I honestly would like to hear other crafters thoughts on this. If only Jangula could speak english. It seems that he made more on elemental staves in the christmas rush than anyone. This is not to badmouth him, he simply took advantage of a situation he did not create, and seems to be a legitimate player, and has always been friendly in the few times I had dealings with him.

Sorry to ramble, but it is maintainance after all. :)

This is plain stupid. Now when I sell a multi-million gil item on one of my jeuno mules I have to log in and out of my mule character to main in order to send the proceeds to my main char multiple times.....

what is that about....

Alright Louly, Here's a question for you.

Would you rather:

A) Keep RMT's around (Around and Thriving, Might I add.)

or:

B) Have to take 5 minutes to send some gil back and forth, And see prices drop steadily? By the way, You could easily have a friend hold the gil, Log onto your mule, And it will go much faster.

Think of all those RMT money mules with 100 mil +... alot of transfer there ^^. They even considered the idea I posted over a year ago about the taxes (not to say that they saw my post, just that I was on the right path).

Thank you Hixxy for that well thought out and intelligent post. If your so sure this will do nothing, then how about some thoughts about what will help? Maybe you could learn how to form a sentence and spell a bit in the meantime. If you are going to communicate in text, at least TRY to get past the 6th grade.

All this is going to do is set up face to face meetings, but thanks for trying SE...My 2 cents= Se go online and pose as a would be gil buyer, buy the gil as a undercover, and bust each one of these guys one at a time, whats so hard about this? If there was a face to face bust, that would be sweet! Treat this like a war on drugs and go undercover.
Hmmm what if SE was behind the whole thing? Its a multi million dollar business and what if they were controlling it all, Muhahahaha, just a thought.

this is good stuff. Hurts HNMLS tho. But they can, and will find a way to simple use trade instead of inbox. And yes.. it will suck hard trying to mule cash. But yea.. ***** you RMT, and ***** u gilbuyers.

PS2 users have inboxes just like PC users do.... or am I confused on the point of that?

Either way, setting up meetings to trade is harder and requires more time. It is also easier to track I'm guessing. It may not stop gil buying/selling but it will at least slow them down. Anything that makes it harder for them to do bussiness is a good thing in my opinion. :)

Not true. IGE also sent gill by mailbox.

Also meeting and trading in person is a HELL of a lot more easyer to track and catch. FYI.

This update = SE being their usual lazy selves, sorta like what they did with the MPK "fix". Do something to get people to stop bi[/i]tching but somehow they can't see that they are giving people new things to bi[/i]tch about.

/laugh if you think this update is going to do anything about RMT. It's only going to make handling gil (and not even mass amounts of it) an inconvenience. 1 million is hardly anything nowadays.

They can claim to ban 700 gilsellers or 7 million, I don't care. I still see the usual obvious gilsellers running around so I'm inclined to believe they still aren't doing crap about it.

Barry;

interesting point, however I must comment that

a) RMT are still alive and thriving, there is some comment I read on another link from alla saying that on RMT sites they say any gil bought would be delivered in person within 10-40 minutes in sandy AH so it hasn't affected the transfer of gil from RMT -> customer

and

b) Yes, one could get a friend to hold your 10 mil you want to transfer from mule, but it's a inconvenient to do so when most of your LS are xping/farming/crafting/whatever.

As for RMT mules with 100+mil, it's somewhat irrelevant. we all know that RMT will have multiple accounts so they can just transfer it in person from one account to another. It mainly screws those of us who only have one account who have to log in and out to transfer between mules.

If SE implemented the gil transfer limit only between different accounts then it would solve my problems, however would still cause issues with end game LS banks and money distribution, etc...

Just my few thoughts on the matter...

Yeah. After thinking this whole "fix" over, I agree with you Louly. While it does make it less convenient for them, It really doesn't do much to RMT =/

And secondly, I concur! If SE would get off their high-horse and vote Shykre, RMT would've been gone 6 months ago.

Even if SE was secretly buying gil to weed out the RMTs the underlying problem is the accounts that are actually being used to farm gil aren't the ones used in transactions, at least according to what I've been reading. Gil gets transferred to one account to another to hide the gil farming characters. RMTs can easily buy new accounts to transfer gil with to start over, while preserving their high level farming characters if and when their account is terminated. I'm sure SE knows which characters are RMTs, but there's no concrete proof. Concrete proof being the gil farmers transferring money directly to the gil buyer (or undercover operative).

Italics on the part that just happens to be relevant. Here's an RMT example, yeah? Say you have 100M gil. SE says you can only transfer 1M at a time. Will that stop an RMT from going back and forth and actually getting that 100M gil transferred? Probably not, but if the #1 rule in this game's economy is "time equals money," DAMN, did someone just waste a lot of time.

It's sort of like Chinese water torture, don't you think?
