Rumors and how they startFollow

#1 Jan 23 2006 at 1:01 PM Rating: Default
Maybe it's just me, maybe its because I am bored, maybe it's because I have a huge obsession with that show "Myth Busters" but as I was listening to a few people babbling today, I noticed a few things. People in this game can be amongst the dumbest in the world. You know all these people, the ones who know "everything" without having done anything. All of theri info comes from "here-say." And I was curious as to some of the rumors that you "know" is bullsh*t. I have a few, as well as a theory on how some got started, and you probably have heard some of the same.

1) Hakutaku drops a Peacock Charm. I would stake my life that this is bull. This is the one I have a theory on. Haku is not easy, he is a pain in the rump, and has an evil spawn place. No one outside of HNMLS ever want to fight him, aside from the pickup pts that end up with 12+ thfs and drks wanting in on it. So, long ago, someone needed help on Haku, no one wanted to come, so he perpetuated a rumor that Haku drops a Charm. Why? Simple, either way you look at it, being a helper is profitable. Most people who are getting hat rarely get to lot in runs that I have seen, so they're out. Charm would drop, you would usually have 5-6 people allowed to lot on it, or those 5-6 can sell and split the money. Well, by starting that rumor, people would love to help, as there is potential for huge reward. But people would eventually catch on, so you have to say its less than a 1% drop. All the Optical hats on our server, I am betting a Charm didnt drop on Haku not even once.

2)Stealing/Using WS/Using spells affect NM drops. Where in the blue hell did this come from? I kinda know where stealing came from. It was started by an NM hunter that couldnt beat a thf to Lizzy, so he wanted to stop the only move a thf/rng could do while moving, to even the playing field. But using Weapon Skills lowers drop rate? What sense does that make? As for spells, I got Argus again the other day, bringing my total to 0/3 on him. Well my blm friend was there with me, and blasted him with ThundagaIII, and I had been there for a while so I EES him. Those 2 moves killed Argus, got Mercury for the 3rd time^^, then someone says "OMGLOL you will never get that necklace as long as you use abilities on him!" Um, no. I straight up fought him on my first 2 runs a few weeks, no drop.

3) You ever get someone in LS who decides he/she is gonna lv thf/rng/war/anything that could use Lizzy's boots? They ask questions from those that have done it. You always get one guy, who no one has ever seen out there, that keeps giving the most advice. Says she pops 3-5 hours..........guys, she can pop 5 min apart if she likes. I was getting a friend his boots, and killed her at 22:00 Firesday, figured I would go AFK for 20 min to fix food. Thf beside me hits flee, I run back to my couch, throw up WS, there she is. Earthsday before 04:00, 3 hours indeed. Thats not saying she WILL pop that soon, cuz any hunter will tell you that they have hunted her for around 4 hours and got nothing, and thats true. But know that she can pop very soon after she dies.

4) Racc and Acc caps somewhere down the line. Frikkin unseen stats, I despise them more than I hate carpenters. This statement means, that no matter how much you drks stack Acc, you are going to whiff, same to you rngs(the ones who still play it, as opposed to you weekend warriors who quit after the patch, and since started taking blm up to give them a bad name now), no matter your Racc gear, you will miss. And you get technical readouts if you ask the right guys too. They will tell you shot for shot how things go. Know when I changed? In Bibiki, I had on 2 Mermans, I still missed more than I felt I should. So I sold them, bought a Ruby and Emerald, try to balance myself, and will never upgrade to the Flame, cuz 1 more Str is not worth 6 mil to me, if it is to you, have at it(on a side note, I do hope I am online when Hacksign/Ozawa/etc FINALLY does HQ that into a Vulcan Ring).

5) Divine Might, this is my current favorite. Ever notice how people get to zm14 and stop? They dont want to advance, cuz they want the cool kids' earring. I did too, just to have. Keep in mind, that as a Rng, that earring is not the be all end all, as we dont melee, so Dual Wield enhancement means nothing. Genin gives 2 more agi if u are subbing nin. Drone gives 1 more. And since I signed my own drone, I wont be taking that off. Still, great to have if u sub war for Gods/HNMs, and its alos a "**** you earring" that shows everyone that you completed Divine Might. Ok, on to the myth.

"If you do Ark Angels, you can't do Divine Might and get your earring later."

Last week, I was very bored, and have little to do nowadays in this game. I seen some blm shouting for an Ark Angels pt. I joined, and in a pickup pt we fought them all and killed them 1st try(sans the Elf, that ***** wiped us 2 times). ZM14 done, now I am on the battle with the brat. But the rumor is I cant go back and do DM now. Where did that come from? I went to the Shrine, activated the "Quest" and almost got DM done last night. However a glitch that kept the Mithra in the center of the room prevented a victory, so we had to reschedule. Still, AA is a mission, DM is just an alternate way(quest) to get it done. Now, the way I figure, its 2 roads. You can pick one and go down it, either one will get you to your location. That doesnt mean you cant go back and thake the other route later. I was told by my HNMLS who has done this before, that you will be able to get your earring after you complete DM, even if you did the AA previously. I believe them, because its logical. I am 90% sure that I can get that earring when I do DM, even though I have done AA. Once I get DM done, I will either be 100% sure that I can get it(or cant, if this myth is true).

Sorry for long post, I was bored, and had nothing to watch for a half hour XD

Nobody really cares about your stupid ramblings. You post stupidity on a regular basis and then quote everyone that has an opposing opinion to yours with some stupid reason why that person is wrong. Most of the time you stoop to calling names and being nothing more than a waste of anyones time that bothers to read your drivellings. Do us all a favor and go post useless crap on mypage or an equally mondain craphole of a site.

Parsing accuracy % you can find an accuracy cap around 95%. Even if you do nothing but kill level 1 rabbits as a 75RNG you will miss around 5% of the time regardless of how much acc gear you stack on. There are ways to bypass the accuracy cap ... just not for most jobs. SAM JSE is acc that exceeds the cap for WS onry at a very favorable acc->hit% ratio. So for the few /WAR SAMs JSE is a huge blessing.

If you are interested in more Jaerik has about 3 million XP worth of parsed parties comparing differing levels of acc and equipment from which these conclusions are drawn.

However the old RNG myth of AGI setting your accuracy cap is a giant load of crap.

P.S. Hacksign has gotten the HQ animation for level 74 rings several times all with the same result. The HQ rings just arent in the game.

I did ZM14 1st then DM after that. Beat DM last night and got my Abyssal earring. That rumor is utter BS.

I personally like the rumour that trolling is cool. I can't believe kids still believe that.

One thing that Crim doesn't do that you see so many people in the game do is codpiece comparisons. "My Codpiece is bigger than yours.", "But my Codpiece has AGI+7", "Mine has Hidden Effect:Pimp"... Some people might not think Crim posts, useful stuff, but hell it's a million times better than Lower Jeuno spam, and an enjoyable read at work.

Add to the list of rumors:

That you can silence Dhalmels, which will prevent them from using 'Cold Stare' (which silences party members in front of the cow).

This is completely and utterly false. Cold Stare is a TP move, right along with Stomp, Berserk, and Whistle. If the Cato has TP and feels like using Cold Stare, it will, regardless of whether it's silenced.

You can't fight silence with silence unless we're talking about mage mobs who actually CAST silence.

That's only funny because it's the first spell my NPC casts for about every fight. I'm in the red, needing a cure, and what does she whip out? Silence..... on bats.

RNG many RNG (including myself) get Bush DM earring for the STR.

Just because you chose one that you already deemed worthless doesn't mean all RNG went the same path.

I can count on one hand how many times in the last few months I have posted. Fact is, all these forums turn into some ********* trying to extend his ***** size by popping off(sound familiar? perhaps you should post WHO you are so we know how big your johnson is).

Actually, all of my posts, while mixed with venom when I cut the nuts off the "1337" people in this game, are actually full of info, and helpful things. It's only when provoked that I spew.

Until you pay my bills, or until you can "make" me, it would behoove you to lick my hairy beanbag before you pop off with how kickass you are^^

This is why anger management gets all of my money. Go reread it pal, I was talking about how people stop at ZM14 out of fear that they cant get "either" earring. The Sup was just the one I will pick. No one hit your buzzer about how great your earring is.

For the Special Eds, this was NOT intended to be another prick waving contest. This was simply a post to help those who may be afraid to do things out of fear of what "1337s" told them. It was meant to help people, but the anon dipstick, and the super duper Rng who felt the need the say how great the Str earring is have made this post into another prickfest. To Abs, Chluke, Schultz, etc. thank you. To those who find me infantile and petty, you can kiss my black @$$ til it turns Chinese =)

Not only do I remember the post, but I've seen numerous RDMs and WHMs try this since then. It drives me nuts. Unless they need the Enfeebling skill ups, then more power to them.
