Good luck Nuku! And who ever else is going!!! Beware that dang castle and stupid hellish Davoi!!!! Stupid chickens and orcs!!! Depending on time... I 'might' be able to help... but I need to also start preparing for 5-1... *sighs* (I hate missions... but in hind sight, I do enjoy the airship traveling options... Haha!! no more stupid choco prices to worry about!!) But if still on and not close to my logging off time, I'll try to help...

It will be most likely at 1800 ish PST, so make sure you have everything done in Jeuno that you can do for Rank 5, including trading the meat with the boy and talking to all the appropriate people, DO YOUR RESEARCH! I dont want to run into any snags becuase i want to make 55 tonight plus i got a uniform inspection in the morning. Later!

I have already done all the prereqs and even gone to Beadeaux, killed the NM's and seen my 1st magicite. I just need to go to Davoi and the Castle Oz now. I am more than happy to come along on the Beadeaux part though.

If you're in a small group, be wary of the samurai Yagudo in Castle Oz, alone you'll be able to take them fine but you can get some severe linkage.
I know for me getting rank5 was one of the most enjoyable nights of my FFXI career, despite the 5 deaths.
Up until we got the 12-strong alliance of 50+'s to storm Castle Oz it was tough going so it felt like we were earning it, but then there was just the sheer coolness of running around owning everything in sight with people of higher lvls than us. My favourite screenshots! (plus I'm in RSE in them :D)

Somewhat anti-climactically, I was whisked through the Magicite missions by higher-leveled linkshell friends so fast that I really didnt even know what was happening.
However, if you would like some high-level muscle along for the ride to watch your backs, I'm certainly game for tagging along.
I like helping folks when I can, and am more than willing to help out here if neeeded/desired.
