Just find five people who are as dedicated to finishing this crap as you are, and you're golden.
That's kinda what a static is =/
But in any event, I'm running a static mostly comprised of my social LS. It originally started with 18 people. (Yeah, I now realize I was in way over my head.)
I already know not all 18 are going to make it all the way through; in fact, we're down to about a core 12 members, and we've only just finished the Promyvions after starting at the start of 2006 (we only meet once a week). But none of us are in any real rush, most of us don't really have anything to get out of {sea}, this is just something that I thought would help bring the LS together, and help us get our money's worth for the poor unfortunate souls that went to go buy CoP but hadn't really gotten anything out of it prior to this.
Statics are tough to form and keep together, yes, but they're not always a waste of time. This depends on the friends you have and how compatible/stable your schedules are. But for me, if it was me and 5 random shmucks trying to get through CoP, I couldn't care less if we succeeded or failed. Why should I care about zones or ENMs my friends can't enter? However, the people that are with me are friends, and as a result I am determined to get us to succeed no matter how long it takes. For me it's more about the journey than the end result.
