It was actually for attending MIT. I like yours better though.

I stayed home this weekend and how wish I had gone to Arisia in Boston with my daughter and my jewelry. Jonwin tried to replace gas hose to stove by himself, which I knew would be a mistake. Rule of thumb that I go by, is if it involves the breaker box or gas lines, you call an professional to do the work. We still have a house and there was no fire, but we did have to call the fire department to give us the all clear to re-enter the house. Gas line is now safely capped and we plan on just getting a new stove that I been wanting anyway.

Meanwhile I sold 7 pieces of my jewelry in the Arisia Art Show. My daughter hasn't added up how much I made in sales yet, but she be home tomorrow morning with my paper work. The art show director ask that I attend next year, saying that I can volunteer to help. Guess I should put aside money for the hotel room now, as I don't expect to have any inheritance left by then.

The show director gave you permission to spend money on a hotel room and then work unpaid for the show? Well, that was nice of them.

It's a non profit SF convention. We depend on volunteers to make them work. I don't think I've actually ever attended a convention that I didn't volunteer at. In fact Jonwin and I are in charge of volunteers at this years Balticon 49.

I somehow managed to overbook my interviews today, so that's been fun.

Does volunteering also give you access to the convention (ie: you don't have to buy a ticket or get one at reduced price)? I know that some conventions do this, some don't. Kinda depends on how many problems they've had with people "volunteering" just to get the free ticket to the convention, and then magically disappearing when actual work needs to be done. If they do though, then it makes perfect sense cause they're only going to ask people to volunteer who are reliable and will actually do sufficient work. The riffraff don't get asked to return next time.

My weekend consisted of my god daughters 18th birthday (holy hell, how does that happen?) on Saturday. The rest of the weekend involved me having this growing nagging feeling that I'd missed something I was working on, only to finally decide to log into the work network to double check things on Sunday, then realize that sure enough I had missed something that was going to explode on Monday (today). So slightly close call there. Go go vague recollection!

yeah, that's a good feeling, once the panic subsides.
