At least until I tell Hideki Kamiya that you're secretly the leader of Gamergate.

Nomination and Voting Process wrote:
In 2007, gamasutra.com took over management of the awards from the IGDA. An advisory board selected by the editors of gamasutra.com and Game Developer magazine oversees the selection process.

Nominations are accepted from those registered gamasutra.com users confirmed by Choice Award organizers to be game developers, and from the advisory board. Once the nomination process is complete, the advisory board identifies five finalists for each regular category.
Sounds like a great award. Like the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

I hear that it's a lot of white dudes giving awards to other white dudes after they've spent all day going to conferences on using the right pronouns and otherwise promoting diversity.

"Over-Shadow" Spice; she was with "Freddy vs Jason" Spice and "I have no idea what she's doing now" Spice.

Nah. Few people have any real reason to know game designers/developers by name much less care about their thoughts on anything besides making pew-pew games.

I see people debating/arguing/trolling about the general ideas on a semi-regular basis, but if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't know GG still existed, or that any of this was still going on in even a semi-organized fashion.

He kickstarted a game, asking for 400k. Got 3.3 Mil. Ran out of money and never completed the game. Also made Grim Fandango, Psychonauts and a few other games you might recognize.

In other news, The Independent put out a relatively fair article about the whole thing. Misses important context such as the months of hearing people in NYS called "uncle Toms" and other similar things, but overall, a pretty good article. And the creator of Earthworm Jim stepped up to support NYS, which was cool.

Edit: Also, I'm hearing rumors that Leigh Alexander is leaving Gamasutra. Probably to find somewhere that gamers don't have to be her audience. Smiley: tongue

In the character of the sock, Schafer asks: “How many gamergaters does it take to make a single piece of armor?” Schafer, as himself, says that he doesn’t know.

The sock replies: “Fifty. One to do the modeling, one to do the materials, and forty-eight to tweet that it’s not your shield.”
Smiley: rolleyes

Alright, well... yeah... I give up. I chuckled a little and rolled my eyes. I get it, but I can't work up enough to get upset over it. Just another politically incorrect joke making it's rounds on the internet or the equivalent thereof.

Actually, that was one of the things that the article got wrong. He said "Forty" not "Forty-eight". Smiley: tongue

Some games are better with a controller. They also make some fairly great controllers specifically for the PC Master Race.

If you were a real gamer, you wouldn't have said that. Go back to your Super Atari Station 360, console boy.

40!?

People who can't do math are the worst people. Smiley: disappointed

Also that's better, it isn't good drama until someone is threatened with losing their job over something silly.

Smiley: popcorn

I don't have to be reigned in by one system. You stick with your system monogamy, gramps. I'll be hanging out with my PC-tan waifu and all my console-tan harem.

Or when your job involves looking at rocks. Probably a good thing it's stuck there though, can't imagine the awful revenge it's planning on inflicting on it's high school career counselor if it ever returns.

This is why I can't take Gamergate seriously. A bunch of monkeys who don't even know how to play games correctly are going to lecture me about how to write gaming reviews? Pfffttt...

As opposed to the bunch of monkeys who don't even know how to play games correctly lecturing you about how to react to every minute detail of a game?

To be fair, I've never seen Anita Sarkeesian play a game. She might be a KB+M devotee. We could get together over coffee and laugh and the controller people.
