It was alright. It was certainly no Mulan, but the music was catchy enough.

I'm sure that one day I'll flip past ABC Family and see it on or something.

You REMEMBER phone numbers? Damn. I barely even know my own number nowadays. Smiley: bah

In other news: #PinsofInterview is trending and the third part comes out today, iirc. Also, Geordie "Gas Chambers" Tait has quit Twitter. Which makes me happy because that guy creeped me the **** out.

It wasn't very true to the source material. At least in the Disney version of The Little Mermaid, Ariel was actually portrayed as a mermaid.

I'd be interested in a version of Mulan with the title character as a mermaid, flopping her way across China or perhaps being netted in the Yangtze River and eaten with some endangered fresh water dolphins.

While I'm pretty anal retentive when it comes to productions staying faithful to source material, Disney 'toons not so much.

While I was referring to Frozen, I'd definitely watch your version of Mulan.

I debated where to put this, but decided Gawker behaving badly would be fine here. Coke pulls #MakeItHappy Twitter campaign after it was duped into quoting Hitler’s Mein Kampf.

Quote:
Coca-Cola has been forced to suspend its automated tweet #MakeItHappy campaign — designed to transform mean tweets and negativity on the internet into cute images — after it was tricked into quoting Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf, Adweek reports.

The campaign launched during The Super Bowl last weekend with a 60-second commercial, “focusing on the importance of injecting happiness into the internet,” according to a press release from the company.

The wider push asked Twitter users to send the brand negative tweets using a #MakeItHappy hashtag. The brand then transformed the tweets into art images using ASCII lettering code.

But after seeing that Coke had turned the “Fourteen Words” white nationalism slogan into a cute dog, tech blog Gawker decided to have some fun with the campaign.

Gawker’s editorial labs director Adam Pash created a @MeinCoke Twitter bot, under the name “A.H.” and began tweeting passages of the book’s text. Sure enough, Coke did. Reams of tweets followed, featuring ASCII images of cute cartoon characters like a cat playing drums and a happy-looking burger.

The tweets have now been deleted, but Gawker managed to catch some screengrabs, like this one.

Gawker had tweeted: “German-Austria must be restored to the great German Motherland. And not indeed on any grounds of economic calculation whatsoever. No, no.”

Coca-Cola provided Adweek with this statement: The #MakeItHappy message is simple: The Internet is what we make it, and we hoped to inspire people to make it a more positive place. It's unfortunate that Gawker is trying to turn this campaign into something that it isn't. Building a bot that attempts to spread hate through #MakeItHappy is a perfect example of the pervasive online negativity Coca-Cola wanted to address with this campaign."

Coke told Business Insider that Wednesday was always scheduled to be the final day for its game-day tool and that its social media channels have instead been put on its "Smile Petition" to sustain consumer engagement in the wider #MakeItHappy campaign. Sentiment across the whole social #MakeItHappy campaign has seen 95% positive to neutral, and just 5% negative, Coke told us.

In spite of the campaign’s sentiments, it seems odd that Coke did not prepare for such sabotage. Its Share A Coke campaign for example, which allowed customers to order a bottle with their name on the label at special events and from the internet, had an extensive list of offensive words blocked from being printed. That memorably omitted the word “gay” from being chosen on its website in South Africa. Coke later revised the tool to include the word, following backlash from consumers.

So, uh...there's that.

So, the SVU episode was apparently, as expected, what you'd get if you asked someone's Amish grandfather to write a story about video gamers. They did manage to pepper in references to a few real people, in one case giving them a proper villainous upgrade from Filipino to white for some reason, and removed the fact that he's a game developer. Apparently there's even a David Pakman clone in there.

At one point, two gamers even apparently meet IRL to "exchange doxx" instead of trading them on "Redchanit" or through <initiate scarecaps>THE DARK WEB!<commence gasping><Dun dun DUUUNNNNNN!>

I haven't watched it yet. I was considering doing a shot every time they said something incredibly stupid, but based on what I'm hearing, I'll have to cancel that. I wanna live.

Edit: This was a hilarious summary. 'A luchador ninja rape gang kidnaps a female indie videogame dev using their laser hacking powers and triumphs despite their leader becoming a martyr.'

Kotaku missed the irony when it wrote:
It's corny, terrifying shlock that demonizes hardcore gamers and turns complicated conversations over misogyny in gaming...

Oh, Gawker, you so silly. Since when did this become a "complicated conversation" insinuating that there might be more than one side to an issue?

I think it's pretty simple: Some people are douchebags, and some people are too sensitive. Sometimes those people meet in the world, but when it happens on the interwebs, it's cause for much debating, and parlaying, and jumping to conclusions. Ultimately, I blame Twitter for the god dang stupid hashtag crap.

Edit:Dear Adsense... you serious right now?

Game dev calls on game journalists to heal the rift in games culture. Journalists responding in expected way.

Also, you heard it here before it was put on Polygon or Kotaku: Totalbiscuit sending death threats to Ben Kuchera.(for the full thing, I believe it was from Cooptional Podcast...last night's episode, I think) Smiley: sly
