I'm hoping for an actual game and not stoppage every twenty seconds.

I don't know why I find Italy's national anthem so comical, but I do. Seems like it's missing puppets.

I went to Costa Rica in May, and it was 2 of the best weeks of my life. Seriously awesome and gorgeous country. And it's not even that far for you guys.

Despite that, I still thought they would go home after the group stages with 0 points. Nonetheless.

VAMOS TICOS!!!

Great goalkeeping and Balotelli has lost any credit he had with the ref, going to make the rest of the match so much more difficult for him.

Italy seems to be under the impression that it's the world championship acting.

In Italian, overdramatic is underdramatic. We're an animated people.

I for one am entertained by Circus Balotelli.

Also, Pirlo is still an incredible player and Buffon had a great save but everybody else on the field is disappointing so far.

Well, no more circus apparently although the amateur drama club Italy continues to show their skills.

More Tierra de Villanos. Rich people problems.

Looks like Uraguay is trying to horn into the business.

The ref for this game has been suspended before for giving out too many cards so this match might end up in a different kind of fireworks than I had hoped for.

Deserved red though, utterly retarded to try and kick someone in the leg 3 feet from the ref...

Guy Fawkes is the new Che Guevara.

So wait, there's no bench or is this like hockey penalty for x minutes to play a man down?

About time there was some substantial punishment dished out though. Wonder if it will calm everyone down a bit.

With a red card you lose a player for the remainder of the match, so 10 v 11 until it's over.

Lame.

Another good save by Buffon though.

It's not the end of the world or anything though, things are still pretty even at 10 v 11. Not like losing a man in hockey where you feel more seriously gimped.

Edit: Italy may shift more to playing for the tie however.

Not in the slightest, it's going to get meaner as Uruguay gets more frustrated and Italy digs in deeper.

And yeah, yellow*2 or red card means you're done for the match and in case of a direct red card plus a suspension for the next match, this also goes for 2 yellow cards in different matches (the suspension that is). In case of a violent foul like this one there's a chance the suspension will be for 3 matches instead of one.

These suspensions aren't gone after they leave the world cup either, they count for all official FIFA matches.

Edit: So should Italy lose, Marchisio will be suspended from playing in the first match of the Euro 2016 qualifiers, as will Mario Balotelli because he got his second yellow card this world cup.

So Italy advances and they're playing with 9? I think I'm missing a detail.
