The scoring system seems to be needlessly complicated.
Well with three games and ties being allowed you need about a bazillion different ways to have tie-breakers naturally.
But why they couldn't just do a double-elimination tournament is beyond me. It works just fine for every 12 year old.
This guarantees that everybody gets to see their national team play at least 3 games rather than half of them working towards a tournament for weeks or months only to be sent back home after a day.
Edit: If points are equal the first thing looked at is goals scored, if a team has scored 5 and got 3 scored against them they're at +2 so they go through over a team at +1 or worse. If 2 teams have a score of +2 they look at who has scored the most so 6 scored and 4 against is better than 3 scored and 1 against. If even that is equal they look at the results between the two teams and if even that is a draw they draw lots to see who goes through.
Balotelli ****** over Ajax in the Champions League last season by turning nothing into a penalty, he can suck it for all I'm concerned. He's got his days where he plays brilliantly but just as often he just makes nasty fouls, acts like he's dying when someone looks his way or yells at the ref all game.
Pirlo on the other hand I love to see play, that man is a wizard with the ball.
Turned out to be a not very exciting game, aside from the result that is. It'll make Italy - Uruguay a fantastically tense game though as that will decide who goes through.
Also, this is yet another game that shows that a video ref is a necessity as more than one bad decision of the ref has influenced the game.
Edit: Oh and this means England doesn't make it to the second round for the first time since 1954.
