If I'm forced into buying some chain pizza, I honestly just pick who ever has the best deal since I might as well make it cheap and a $10 Domino's pizza or even a $5 Little Caesar's isn't significantly different from Pizza Hut or Papa John's.

I love the $5 Little Caesar's, but there is no comparison to the other chains. Little Caesar's is the Taco-Bell for Mexican Food. Good, but no real comparison.

Little Caeser's 8 dollar deep dish is a lot better than their 5 dollar hot n ready. Worth the 3 dollars extra. Eight crispy corners!

The Deep Dish is no joke. I thought I was being cheated, but that mountain of dough is some good stuff.

The only reason I'd eat Papa John's is if it was offered and paid for by someone else.

Ah... that young age when kids actually think that college is providing them with a realistic view of the world. Charming!

Oh. Put me in the same "all chain pizza is pretty similar" category. It's still pizza, so it's ok, but it's not like it matters that much which I'm eating. Honestly though, I can't remember the last time I bought pizza. It's just not something I usually choose to eat. So it's pretty much if I'm at someone's house and they're ordering pizza, I'll eat it, but that's about it.

On the food related front: I got a bread maker a month or so ago, and I've been playing with it. Ridiculously easy and yummy. Not sure if it's really that much of a savings versus just buying loaves, but I'm sure the bread is better (well, except for the occasional misshapen loaf when I forget to put the right amount of yeast in or something). At the request of a co-worker, I made a loaf of dill bread (which of course, first requires making the dill dough... ba dum dum!). Brought it in today, with some extra virgin olive oil and some reduced balsamic vinegar and we had a bread feast! Yummy...

Didn't really do anything else exciting this weekend. Normal visiting of friends, playing of games, etc.

I've been eating home made pizza for awhile. It's much cheaper and better than the pizza in Japan. However, I am able to differentiate various tastes of pizza, chain or not. That's like saying Mc Donald's and Burger King taste the same. You don't have to like either to be able to taste the difference. Likewise with Pizza Hut and Papa Johns.

Didn't mean to imply that they are identical, or can't be told apart. It's more that I don't have any particular strong preferences for any over the other. Again though, I'm a poor example because I don't typically order pizza myself. But if I'm at someone's house, and we decide to order pizza, and the inevitable discussion about where to get it occurs, I'm not going to be one of those people insisting that we must get pizzaX because pizzaY is terrible. I'm pretty much ok with whatever the group decides on, because none of them are going to be a deal breaker to me.

I'm even relatively ok with whatever people want to put on the pizza. I prefer pizza with lots of toppings (seriously, pretty much any combination of flavors is great for me), but sadly I live in a world full of silly picky eaters who can't stand eating <random food item>. Put enough people like this in a group and you end out with some very bland pizza no matter where you order it from. And don't get me started on the mystery that is 90% of all children under the age of 15 wanting to just eat cheese pizza. That and their love for McDonalds. No figuring that out at all!

Oh. Your mention of Japan reminded me. I went out to lunch last week with a couple vendors. One of them was from the home office in Japan. It was kinda funny because the big joke is that whenever he comes to the states, he turns into a raving beef eater. It's super expensive in Japan, so he eats as much as he can while he's here. We went to an Irish pub and after explaining to him that they don't have tacos there (honestly have no idea where that came from) and no, that meal with the stuff in a stomach is Scottish, and they don't have that either, he settled on corned beef and cabbage. Good choice IMO.

I'm guessing it's because McD's food is mush, and therefore easy to eat.

You may be on to something there. Do Seniors tend to start liking McDonalds again? Would be interesting to find out.
