Here is how my student loans went down.

Got em. Used em. Got a 50% rebate because i am a genius and did good in skool. Used half tuition Credits on my Taxes. Got a nice refund. Paid of loans with Rebate. Next year used other half credits. Kept the money. torlololo thanks for free educasion Government!

But really the government ended up paying for my school and my taxes with tuition/book credits. I went to school for free and the government got all their money back. Win Win. (and win cause I got a nice return the following year). Except I have had to pay money for the last 2 years....thanks for the good jerb education (shoulda flipped fries for 11$ hour.)

The husband finished his PhD on taxpayer dime, all except the final semester. He was the research assistant for the Assistant Dean of his college (basically, she'd ask him for data and he'd dig it up.) That cushy gig lasted for almost six years, in addition to the two years he put in teaching undergrads before that. It only ended because she retired.

Agree to kill people for three years. Chances are pretty good you'll only really have to kill people for eight months unless Benghazi actually takes hold and you might be deployed to fight in Iceland or something other completely unrelated.
