At work right now, but I'm going to hang out with friends afterwards. As a totally broke college student, I need cheap drink recipes. Particularly, those involving vodka. I'm fine with shooting the stuff straight myself but a lot of my friends aren't. I've also realized that we are extremely uncreative when it comes to making drinks ourselves.
There's always the standard Vodka/fruit juice combo, but that's boring. So what do you guys got? What can I make with vodka that is strong and cheap, and preferably tastes good? The more it hides the vodka, the more my friends are going to like it, probably. this is because my friends are pussies and because the vodka could probably peel paint.
in b4 real men drink beer/whiskey/whale ***** /etc. Looking for vodka here because that's what we've got to work with and is the easiest to get a hold of for me.

If you're tired of fruity drinks with vodka, try mixing it with iced herb teas, like ginger or hibiscus tea. Brew the tea, sweeten it with honey or brown sugar if desired, and chill it. Lighter than fruit drinks, and you can dress it up however you want, with orange or lime slices/peels.
Of course you can always go with bloody Marys, vodka martinis, vodka collinses, things like that.
A friend of mine used to host vodka tastings to prove to the rest of us heathens that all vodkas do not taste the same. It was fun. You might think about doing something like that, if you can afford a variety of decent vodkas.

I drink a lot of Bloody Marys.
In a pint glass:
2 shots vodak
1 spoonful horseradish
dash of tabasco
pinch of ground black pepper
2 spanish olives
Fill with Spicy Hot V8
And it's supposedly healthy, too.

You can use vodka, but for the same price you'd probably be better off buying 190 proof Everclear and watering it down to the percentage you require.
Ethyl alcohol is largely perceived as a bitter taste in humans. You can perceptually negate this somewhat by adding proper amounts of acid. Fruits juice will work, and so will vinegar. Most acids readily accessible to you will have other contaminates that flavor it slightly. Choose based on what you like and your usage. With the proper concentration of acid you can create a mostly perceptually neutral taste in the alcohol.
You now have as close as you're going to get to alcohol that has no taste. Use it like water to make anything you want.
That said, consuming ethanol is dumb.

Vanilla bourbon milkshakes are pretty tasty. Never tried either of those alcohols with just milk, though.

- 1 oz blue curacao
- 1 oz triple sec
- 1-2 oz (depending on how strong you want it) vodka, unflavored or citrus flavor
Fill to top with sprite or sprite zero (depending on preference)
Stir
Add 1/2 oz grenadine and allow to sink to the bottom. Drink turns purple with a deep red heart. Very pretty, very tasty.

I'd say that's pretty similar to putting whisky in boiled custard or egg nog. Or like a Brandy Alexander. There's a milk base, but there's other flavors too. Back when I used to tend bar, one of my regulars was a big Jack and milk fan. Made me sick to mix that.
