Objection noted. However, it's not mandatory for any woman to work there, and if a woman chooses to work there, the duties and requirements are clearly documented prior to employment. Submitting one's self to this "objectification of women" is entirely voluntary, and I imagine quite lucrative, if you have the assets.

Agreed. I still don't want to have my money go toward it.

Yeah, her original remark is that she wouldn't go there and wouldn't have her (hypothetical) son go there for a team event, not that no one should be allowed to work there and they need to close.

I'm a little amused at how people keep trying to turn her rather modest disapproval into something far more passionate.

I think people just like to look at women and eat (apparently sub par from the comments here) food and they don't like to be told that someone else dislikes it for moral (for lack of a better word) reasons. They have to make excuses for why it's ok to spend their own money there. That's easier to do by pretending that the person who objects is insane and has no basis for an argument.

I'm just pointing out that her objection is ideological, and not at all practical.

She said she wouldn't allow her (non-existent) son to go on the trip not because of the scantily clad temptresses and moral turpitude but because of the notion that the company's raison d'etre is to objectify women. I could empathize with the former, but the latter seems argumentative and unnecessary, given that the women being objectified typically do so voluntarily for profit.

To each their own, though.

And apparently proceeded to ignore the entire last sentence of my post?

Hah! Funny. Um... I missed that part of the original post as well. I'm totally excusing that on the whole irony thing given the timing of Belk's post and mine. So I'll give her a pass on this one. This time!

We're still doing the whole hysteria treatment though, right? Smiley: sly

Is it really so awkward to be slapped with the smelling salts while you recline on the couch with a good cup of tea??

Sounds like breast feeding, which I find the dining experience at Hooters to be very similar. Reminds me of my middle school days, breast feeding that is not going to Hooters.

You're not really supposed to breastfeed well into your formative years.

Does anyone go to hooters for the food? That's like saying you buy Playboy for the articles, even if they're good you're still lying.

I do for Veteran day specials. I'm not particularly attracted to artificial appearance.

So shallow minded.

1. I wasn't specifically referencing to physical appearance. I was also referencing the artificial personalities that they portray for tips, etc. Guy: " I hate sports" Hooters girl: " I do too, I just don't understand them" Guy: "But I love me some football!" Hooters girl: " OMG, me too!"

2. Not all breast are artificial

Welcome to my point. The comment was made that no one goes to Hooters for the food, implying that they go for the girls. I responded that I go to Hooters for free food. Furthermore, that I am not a fan of the artificial environment enough for me to want to go any other time. So, I'm not sure where you're going with this.....

P.S. I doubt that they get paid for being fake and that's something they do for additional tips.
