He is alive for now, I'll see if he survives his wounds first before I sign up for his packing cylinders in bags 101 course.

He's either on the verge of death or relatively stable. Watertown's about 8 miles from 4 Level 1 trauma centers, the hospital they took him to isn't one of them. I'd guess probably the latter. Great late stage tactical execution, not being able to find him in a boat for the prior 20 hours - less impressive. The end result is the important part, though.

I doubt you're recording Grimm. It's still the bombing coverage. I'll watch Da Vinci's Demons at 9 Central time.

I'm guessing he was on the move for most of those 20 hours, there were various reports of stolen cars to look out for and such.

Well, ya, it's a news report. I had it set to record while I was waching Da Vinci's Demons.

Same as Revolution on Monday, I hadn't watched my recording yet, but just realized it's not Revolution, but the Monday night reporting.

We don't know, obviously, but Occam's Razor says it's probably more likely he remained hidden in a boat rather than running about with a rifle bleeding all over the place stealing cars in a town where vehicle traffic was banned.

Slightly.

What I was wondering was: how long was that shootout going on in Watertown? Was there no police helicopter? How did they lose a guy driving an SUV out of an area with dozens of cops converging?

From when they found him in the boat, and when they finally got him in custody was about an hour and 45 minutes. There was a police helicopter above the scene.

The robbery last night, they weren't as prepared for, I think the police said a few times they were understaffed and could not secure the area fast enough. But the person escaped on foot from that scene.

Yeah, I mean the robbery. The report I read said that Dzhokhar sped off in an SUV after his brother was shot. Was wondering why they weren't able to follow that car.

Because cops tend to pay less attention to fleeing suspects while pipe bombs are being thrown at them. Also, they ran over a banana peel that was thrown out of the car, which as you know, spins the cop car around 3 times and moves it to the edge of the road.

Reality is messy. Almost every "how did they" question isn't really that puzzling, chaos isn't conducive to orderly results.

I was pretty sure that during the 6pm EST police Q&A they mentioned a few times he left on foot from that incident.

You can throw that part in the directors cut if you'd like, we both know it'll never make the cinema version of the film. Boring parts are boring.

He was on a boat 2 blocks outside the perimeter & within a mile, maybe two, of where he ran over his brother after shooting it out with the cops. Pretty much anything else that happened had to do with places he lived recently. They searched houses within a perimeter all day, didn't find him, then called it out & when someone went outside he found blood & a bomber in his boat.

In WATERTOWN. He was in a BOAT in WATERTOWN.

This whole ordeal has left me quite impressed with the sheer power of our country's police force. I really wasn't expecting thousands of police officers to be swarming Boston like that, armed to the teeth and using armored vehicles I've never even seen before. I just keep thinking "Wow, I hope all of those separatist bunker-billies are watching this."

Yes, if you spend half a billion dollars shutting a city down and send thousands and thousands of people you can eventually find two young men after someone calls to tell you who they are and they kill or injure a few more people. Astonishing. What would have left me quite impressed with the power of our country's police force would be if they found and captured the two of them then held a press conference. "Hey did we match the photos against currently enrolled university students in state universities, you know where we have free access to data? Nah, what's he going to do, go back to school the next day? Let's just ask the public and alert them to our having photo evidence. Sure, they'll probably kill a few more people, but you know, omelet, eggs."

On a scale of 1 to 5 the performance of law enforcement as a whole gets a weak 2 for this event. 10 guys could have accomplished the result here, let's not get too excited sucking our own ***** over catching a couple of clearly rank fucking amateurs. That dead MIT cop is probably alive today if FBI just waits and works the data.

I'd give it at least a 3, if only because all the various branches of government worked together somewhat effectively. After finding the guys who did it via crowdsourcing. the local BPD, State Police, FBI, Homeland Security, & National Guard got their guys. Shutting down the city was an odd way to do it, certainly, but when virtually everyone is dedicated to doing one job the odds are certainly higher.

And it was fantastic seeing mumbles out of the Hospital. Patrick is still too wooden for the national stage, though.

Justification for **** funding and showing off their hardware. It's a bit surprising that they did get baby brother alive; any less of a response and that fellow would have gotten a shock when he went to go launch his boat next month.
