We found out that the Obama rally happening in Madison is outside of the building I work in. We received emails that the entire block is locked and shut up, which includes shades drawn. These are all mostly city, county, state, federal, and bank buildings. The expectation is that we still go to work, or we can work from home that day. The only part of the building that will be shut for the day is vital records since the building will be closed to the public. We have to enter from the side facing the road behind the building. For reference, I work on the isthmus in Madison, two blocks from the Capitol and one block off the southern lake of the isthmus.

We were warned to stay away from the windows. For our safety.

Shit is going to be ridiculous since Bruce Springsteen is supposed to perform and I have no idea how many people will show up. I'll be bringing my headphones and ipod as usual since I won't be able to work otherwise.

For reference:

This is where I work. The rally is across the street in front of the city-county building.

Does the "work from home" option actually include "work"? If not, sounds like a win to me.

Go to work and stick a nice extended mic out the window towards the stage so you can heard the show better.

It just wrapped up about 15 minutes ago. I saw him once already, not really a Springsteen fan. If I want to carry over forty hours of vacation, I only have eight hours remaining and saving that for the day after Thanksgiving. I already voted last week and had no interest in burning extra vacation.
