And $8.50 for a sixpack of tall boys still isn't a bad price. Not great but not bad either.
Luckily I can still get Narragansett Lager for $4.50 per sixpack of tallboys. Smiley: lol

No real fancy beers recently. I have to make a trip to MA soon to grab some Dogfish Head Punkin. They stopped distribution to RI a while back, and I'm really sad I have to drive a whole 15 minutes if I want some of their brews, especially since their 90-minute IPA was my go-to IPA. It wouldn't be so noticeable if the liquor store closest to me didn't have a massive craft brew section.

I've seen a bottle of 90 minute exactly once. It was €14. You have no reason to complain.

Smiley: lol I think the single bottles of the 120-minute go for around $8 or $9. The 90-minute is around $10.50 for a 4-pack, and the 60-minute is around $10.50 for a 6-pack.

DFH does not make it across the ocean. Pliny the Elder is easier to get for me than any DFH brew (still ridiculously expensive, but available).

Yeah, they stopped distributing to RI because they couldn't keep up with the overall demand, and were as big as they wanted to be, from what I remember. Instead of expanding the company and whatnot, they cut back some distribution areas. So, I'm not totally surprised they're not shipping overseas.

I think it's simply because demand is growing so much faster than their ability to increase production. Same thing for Russian River, Three Floyds and a couple others.

Still, I'm not complaining. My local backwater middle of nowhere bottleshop just added a bunch of Flying Dog beers to their repertoire and I can get stuff like Westvleteren, Fantome, Cantillon etc fairly easily whenever I feel like it so It's not like I'm lacking choice. And I do have a bottle of KBS waiting for the right moment (Yay American tourists and trading beer).

Ok, I don't know what it is about coconut water and hydration, but it just works for me.

Coconut water is weird. Probably doesn't help that I added iron water to it. I think it's one of the things it will take a little time to get used to, so I'm going to try it out see if it helps with my hydration levels. They've also got a coconut water with added pineapple, so I might see what that is like. Thanks for the suggestion, probably not something I'd have tried by myself.

Ugh. I can't stand the taste of coconut. Due to my lactose intolerance I tried switching to coconut milk but it was disgusting. Now I'm rocking the vanilla almond milk. Fucking great for making White Russians.

Rice milk is REALLY good on cereals. It is naturally sweet.

Coconut water tasted really nasty to me the first time I tried it, but I couldn't believe how good it made my mouth feel. After being on it a couple of weeks, it still tasted nasty, but my body had this Pavlovian joy - almost euphoria - as soon as that nasty taste hit my palate. After a couple of months the euphoria wore off, but coconut water started tasting really sweet to me, and not bad tasting at all.

Edit, oh yeah, coconut milk is sickening as hell to drink a glass of. It's waaaaaaay too rich. Made me ill.

I was surprised to find that soy milk tastes perfectly fine to me. I'm not usually one for that sort of stuff. It's a little different, but not in a bad way.

Dunno about coconut milk, but I can definitely say that coconut water is pretty gross. And I like coconut.

I refuse to take part in this ruse. It's coconut juice, not milk.

It would be easier to just add a nipple to the coconut than to change the name of coconut milk.

Soy milk and rice milk on the other hand have no business claiming any relation to the mammary gland what-so-ever.

Oh, that's not true. A soy milk latte still gets a little foamy, and honestly, was the nail in the coffin for switching to full vegan. Although I spent the whole summer drinking hot coffee because I can't do cold coffee with soy milk yet. Or lukewarm. It has to be hot.

Really, almost all cereal tastes better with any milk (rice/soy/coconut) other than cow's milk, and it doesn't make you sick to your stomach after eating it.

Sorry yuck, that may be true for you but I absolutely cannot stand having cereal without real milk on it. It's cool you like it, but saying "it tastes better" like it is an empirical fact is inaccurate. It tastes better to you? Sure. But to me it tastes terrible.

Also, while soy milk may be lower in fat or w/e - there is a lot of evidence suggesting that a diet heavy in soy can have a lot of negative effects. I'm not enough of an expert to say whether those impacts are worse than the impact of a diet with animal fat in it - but for myself, I tend to believe it is better to eat a lot of different things in moderation than to load up on soy protein.

I like tofu a lot, so I'm actually quite glad I don't like soy milk, because I can enjoy reasonable amounts of tofu without as much worry about overdoing the soy (although given the amount of soy in almost everything, I still may be ingesting too much of it).

The coconut water is definitely growing on me, only been a few days and I'm already looking forward to my daily glass.

Been keeping up calorie tracking with the app, I think it's going to be useful in helping me make better food choices as it gives a lot more information than just calorie watching so I can make more of an effort to make sure I'm getting the right amount of nutrients and so on.

Milk settles my tummy. It's my preferred beverage with normal dinners (wine with special dinners).

My dad used to make us eat milk-toast (a piece of toast soaked in warm milk) when we'd have tummy aches as kids. That was kind of gross, but not so bad as milk of magnesia.

Something to do with the gears, the chain was falling off if I tried having it on the first or second gear at the front. Tried adjusting the derailleur but couldn't find anywhere that didn't end up in the chain scraping on it. I think the largest gear might have a few bent teeth, so need to check for that. Also, the gear wire broke, I bought a new one but still need to fix it. It will most likely end with me taking it to a shop to get fixed, but I'm going to try and sort it myself first, just need to stop being lazy.

Don't make me go off on milk, now. You can't really defend drinking something that's meant to grow an already human-sized baby calf into a 2000lb+ bull in a fatty thread.

Yeah sorry Guenny but you're ignoring the fact that the milk people drink is nothing like the milk that comes right out of the cow for the most part.

Besides that, at least for myself I don't use milk as a bevy, I use 2% milk as a condiment for coffee and tea, and occasionally on cereal (like 2-3 times a month)

While cutting out milk might be the right decision for some people (depending on how much they consume/their tolerance etc) for many/most people it wouldn't make much if any difference, I know it wouldn't for me.

I consume far more calories from eating sweets than having milk in my coffee - so it makes way more sense for me to cut down those completely empty calories than to cut out something that isn't, in moderate quantities, unhealthy, and that brings me a lot of joy. (I cut sugar out of my coffee but cutting out milk is a non-starter.)

In my humble opinion its a lot more sensible to ease people into making some simple changes to their diet that can cut calories than it is to be an extremist about things. Over time a lot of small changes can make a big difference (cutting the sugar out of my coffee left me feeling way better).
