I got home from vacation last night. Thursday was a full day of driving. I started sneezing then getting that click in the back of my throat this signals a cold coming on - blug. By thursday night we'd pulled into my daughters, the aspirin I'd finally succumbed too was only taking away some of my blugginess.

By Friday afternoon I was questing for an apt in downtown Boston I'd never been to. I found it right off, and pulled over to a parking spot about 2 blocks from my target. It was only a two-hour slot and I'd spotted another nearer space, so whipped a U-ey and pulled in nearly in front of the apt. door only to see the big "TOW" sign. Dang. I pulled out and went in search of a parking spot and ended up on a bunch of one-way +construction zones. It took me about 10 mins to get back to the original spot I'd parked in. I left downtown Boston at 5pm on a friday afternoon - how stupid of me. Is Boston the worst traffic city in the us? I vote yes.

I met up with a massive, traffic stopping t-storm about an hour from home. Saw some pretty cool lightening strikes, though, out over Portland harbor. The drive home in general was pretty mundane.

This morning (two hours ago) I woke up at about 4:15 to a really loud pair of owls outside my bedroom window, and my head full of snot. I couldn't get back to sleep. The owls were persistent and compelling.

I'm going back to bed, now. [:sleepy:]

What are the weekend plans?

Just got done with an early morning trip to the Farmer's Market - it feels like such a success to leave with 25lbs of food, spend $14, and get it all done in less than 10 mins.

I went R/C airplane flying! it was fun, and I didn't irreparibly crash the little P-51 parkzone mini airplane either, so it was a blast dispite the 98 degree weather.

Honolulu is, actually. Boston is in the top ten, though. Smiley: lol

Yesterday was a lovely lazy day filled with some television, a trip out for iced coffee, and some episodes of the cartoon The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack on DVD. Today shall be more of the same with pancakes and bacon for dinner. Back to work tomorrow to set up some things in my classroom. Back to school meetings all day Wednesday and Thursday. Get to see students for a 1/2 day on Friday.

Friday we had my wife's friend and her family up so the husband could help me replace our front door. The kids were adorable (their 18 month old and 3.5 year old with our 6 month old and 4.5 year old). Next weekend or so he'll be helping me put up a over-stove microwave.

Oh. Well we've had the unit, and the cabinet needed to mount it with, stashed under the kitchen table (still boxed) for over a year. The hood has been off of the wall for the same amount of time, leaving a gaping hole (and some smaller gaping holes in the drywall). The handyman came and (badly) wired an outlet, and that's it. I don't know how to do it; my brother has not been able to recover from hernia surgery and can't lift anything; and my wife can't help. So we need outside help.

Went to Red Lobster for the first time in a couple of years for the Endless Shrimp. Apologized profusely most of the night over projectile "yucky bugs" flung across the restaurant, while trying to stifle laughter. Ended up bribing the perpetrator into trying just one, and spent the rest of the night relatively quiet.
