lolwut?

The only stereotype I can think of is overalls and Daisy Dukes. And do people still wear either of those? The Daisy Dukes, maybe... but with this heat wave, no one down here is wearing denim if they can help it.

What, never heard of the Texas Tuxedo?

Texas might be in the south, but they're their own thing over there. Buncha freaks.

Fat freaks. Don't mess with Texas, because we'll sit on you.

I don't get it either. I think California is awesome. Aside from how crazy expensive it is to live there. Even in rural areas, there's some statewide things that are just ridiculous. Like car registration. You have to pay every year, and the fee is determined based on what your car is worth. So if you have a brand new car, you're going to be paying a lot to register it for the first five years or so. Oregon does things much better in that sense. We have a flat rate of $80 something, and we pay every two years. Of course, if you have a piece of sh*t car like I do, you probably pay less down in California, but you still have to pay every year, which is dumb. Just an increase of annoyance and paper work.

Here in IL, it's now $100 / year flat rate. Talk about ridiculous.
We pay an excise tax that is based on the MSRP of the car, then add in the registration fee of around thirty bucks. It's expensive. I paid about $480.00 to register my car last year when it was brand new. This year I figure it will be down to around $400.00.

MN was way cheaper.

It's a yearly fee based on car value combined with a base rate here in Georgia as well. I think my registration is $44 based on me driving a 1997 Honda Accord - $20 base plus $24 ad valorum tax.

Just a quick Google search while working.

Holy crap, look at the top right corner. The print was so small, I had to blow it up to 200% to read it and when I did that was off the screen so I never noticed it.

More accurate list, I hope.

Well that's too bad, far from Three Floyds too. Although you could probably still get their not so rare releases.

Fortunately for the Golden State, Samira has a mitigating effect.

Their tourism commercials suck though.

No the corn fields.

My map of that area only says "Here There Be Dragons."

Also, one of my college roommates was from Quincy.

Yeah, those kinds of freaks.

Anyway, the South is Kentucky, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and the eastern side of Arkansas. Texas is sort of the west, but mostly it's just Texas. And Florida is the north.

Florida is also known for it's majestic herds of Jewish octogenarians.

Every years, thousands of these majestic creatures travel across miles and over all manner of terrain to these warm grounds where they will relax, feed upon great quantities of lox and bagels, attempt to establish hierarchies within the condo association board and even occasionally still attempt to mate.

Until they come off the endangered species list they're exempt from Stand Your Ground.

They were certainly endangered in the 40s, but since have made a remarkable comeback.

Not worth starting a new thread over and this seemed a good a place as any to shake one's head at small-minded racist idiocy...

Political Wire wrote:
"I liked the idea of giving parents the option of sending their children to a public school or a Christian school. Unfortunately it will not be limited to the Founders' religion. We need to insure that it does not open the door to fund radical Islam schools."

-- Louisiana state Rep. Valarie Hodges (R), quoted by the Livingston Parish News, upon learning that the recently passed voucher program can go to Muslim schools as well as Christian schools.
PW wrote:

They think of mosques more as a foothold into a society, as a foothold into a community, more in the cultural and in the nationalistic sense. Our churches -- we don't feel that way, they're places of worship, and mosques are simply not that, and we need to take that into account when approving construction of those."

-- Colorado state Sen. Kevin Grantham (R), quoted by the Colorado Statesman, saying a proposal to ban construction of new mosques should be considered.

lol1stamendment

The more I think about the second comment, the more I wonder at whether Mr. Grantham is that hypocritical or just that ignorant. I suppose it could always be both.

You can find gems listening to State congressmen/women. The closer you get to the local level the more likely they are to speak their (sometimes ignorant) mind rather than hide their true feelings behind a facade of politics.
