Replacing the hard drive in my ancient Dell before it dies completely and doing a fresh install of Windows XP and all its associated upgrades to get the thing running relatively speedy again. It became the "family" computer after I upgraded and I swear the other residents of the household have that poor thing working at a crawl these days. Replacing the hard drive is as good a reason as any to start fresh.

That's why if I'm keeping an old computer around (like my ten year old Dell laptop) I'll get the necessary drivers (network at least, so I can get it online) burned to a CD or on a USB key.

Yeah, thank God I had a disc with the network drivers so I could at least comb Google. I will say that I've gotten my $60 worth out of this 15 year old scanner.
