#328gbaji, Posted: Feb 16 2012 at 4:41 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I find that most people confuse an inability or unwillingness to support/defend their position with being concise. They laud posts that are the equivalent of "I'm right", while condemning those which say "I'm right, and here's why". But isn't it kind of meaningless for us all to argue by just shouting our conclusions at each other?

Well, you can with a base level of competence in writing.

You're just not a very good writer or communicator. Maybe your style works better when writing technical manuals or something; I wouldn't know. It certainly doesn't work for persuasive debating, getting a casual point across or whatever else you're trying to accomplish on this forum. A core level composition class would do you wonders.

Sorry. This whole bit is just too funny. Can't attack the message, so attack the messenger. The lengths some of you will go to avoid actually ever assessing or analyzing your own positions is pretty staggering.

I'm not sure what "message" you're talking about but I'll agree that the messenger does an exceptionally shitty job.

I suppose that's one way to excuse your terrible writing skills. "They're really great, it's just that everyone else refuses to look deep inside themselves!"

If your rationalization relies on the assumption that every other person is just too unwilling to accept your word... well... heh. Whatever. Hell, even batshit insane cult leaders can get a couple hundred people to believe that aliens are going to drive a comet to earth so they can all ride to heaven together. And you can't get anyone to think your views on [topic] are the least bit rational?

Every time I see a sentence that consists of "Um." I want to kill kittens.

And I noticed that gbaji's post under the one I'm quoting here has a beginning sentence of "Sorry."

Did anyone else hear the 'Finish Him' line from Mortal Kombat while reading this?

Sure, you can get a mild giggle out of the fact that his debate skill never evolved past toddler-level. But even that joke has gotten stale and sad.

Just ban the guy already. For spamming, if nothing else.

So you make an ignorant comment, admit to being ignorant of the scenario, refuse to answer any question on clarification and you want to ban me on "spamming". I will go out on a limb and assume that you don't even see the problem in that.... Or then again, you probably do.

I wasn't cool enough for it back then. Smiley: glare

My elaborate plan was to infiltrate the Asylum clique by transforming myself into a stereotypically hip, edgy poster. I'd do so by making fun of people like Alma and Gbaji, even though there's absolutely no reason to make fun of them.

Once inside, I'd ascend to the ranks of the inner circle, then destroy it from within by sowing the seeds of discord.

If only Alma hadn't uncovered my plan before it could come into fruition. You all would have rued the day you rated down Eske. RUED THE DAY.

Everywhere else, where biased perceptions aren't the rule of the day, my writing skills are objectively considered much much better than at least 90% of the posters here. Probably more, but I'm being modest.

Do people really think the "everyone else in the whole wide world agrees with me, it's just you guys that don't" argument works? That's almost as convincing as "I do so have a girlfriend! She just lives in Canada!" and "brb bangin hot chickz." It has no evidence whatsoever. Provide some links to other forums where, according to you, you're regarded as the political Shakespeare.

So excuse me if I take the whole "It's just us and no one else in the whole wide world who believe you have crappy writing skills" for the meaningless rebuttal that it really is.
