I have a friend who's kind of lanky, all elbows and knees. A few years ago he kept harping about how he needed to gain weight, something that I hear a lot from my skinny friends (and something I've said before, too). I figured he'd start doing some heavy lifting, and adding the extra carbs/protein whatever as required.

Turns out he decided that the best way to accomplish it was by just eating more, particularly more junk food. Well, he's got himself a stomach pooch now, and the rest of him is lanky as ever. Guess he accomplished his goal?

I haven't done much powerlifting yet; still working mostly on cardio and bodyweight exercises. I'm at almost 150# now; that's a gain of over fifteen pounds this year. Of course, my weight gain may be associated with the wife's pregnancy; in that case once that's over I'll drop a few pounds and end up showing my abs.

Whoa, 15 lbs. put you only up to 150? Man, I haven't weighed that little since maybe freshman year of college. I think I'm pushing 180 now, like it or not. I haven't seen the slightest hint of an ab since October. Smiley: lol

First thing I'm doing after work today is calling a gym and getting back to MMA proper! Took the holidays off to save some cash...guess it's time to get those New Years resolutions started.

Out of curiosity, what does your wife's pregnancy have to do with your weight? Is it that she's eating more, so you're doing the same from having more food around or something?

I used to get told that I looked like a heroine addict, on account of how thin I was as an undergrad.

Seriously, it was because of my weight.

...Don't give me that look.
