Impressive if you make it that far. My head would have hit the wheel sometime around the middle of Leviticus. Some rambling about how many pigeons to sacrifice on what day and I'd be waking up in a ditch. Smiley: lol

It's not that much of a concern. Like all good little vocal Christians he only listens to the parts that are interesting to him and fast forwards the rest.

Male soldiers with standards overseas. Psh yeah ok. They'll take any girl who will open her legs.

This is the only true statement made yet. Then again, that's not too far from any guy overseas or in the states.

My wife spent two years on deployment, 18 of which was in Iraq from 2005 to 2007. Trust me, I've heard the many many many many many many many many many many hundreds of stories of all the solicitations she received about sex. Once the foot is on the ground overseas pretty much anything is fair game.

We were taught that Jesus died on a cross. I wasn't aware you could kill God.

Religious stuff. If you unspoiler it, don't cry about having read it...

Ask your priest why in Acts 8:14 the Church council sends Peter out to teach. If Peter was Pope shouldn't he be sending people out? Why does Paul refer to himself as equal to Peter in 2 Corinthians 12:11? How is it that Paul publicly rebuked Peter in Galatians 2:11? Is that what people do to popes? The church is founded on Christ, not Peter.

The full statement regarded as giving Peter authority over the Church is:
Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

That said...
the Church council sends Peter out to teach. If Peter was Pope shouldn't he be sending people out?
The church council included Peter, they were not separate of him. Just as the modern bishop's council includes the pope. There is no reason to assume Peter did not agree jointly with their opinion. Does the pope not visit locations today? Do you assume he picks where to go unilaterally and without any input from his advisers and upper circles of the Church hierarchy? If Peter had refused to go, for instance, would it have invalidated Jesus' pronouncement that Peter had the keys to the kingdom?

Why does Paul refer to himself as equal to Peter in 2 Corinthians 12:11
He compares himself to the disciples who walked with Jesus, not to Peter specifically. Notice the plural "apostles". He's rebuking the church in Corinth for wanting a "real" apostle (one who was with Jesus) and not respecting Paul's vision.

How is it that Paul publicly rebuked Peter in Galatians 2:11? Is that what people do to popes?
Yes, absolutely. Even the modern pope has a confessor. The doctrine of papal infallibility is poorly understood by most and doesn't mean the pope (or Peter) can't sin or never needs correction. It's a given that all men are imperfect in their daily lives.

I am a non affiliated believer. I believe it is likely that some superior being encouraged us along the way. But I don't particularly buy into the whole concept of organized religion that builds cities of gold while children starve around the world, or funds terrorist campaigns while the people drink dirty water, or suppress an entire nation of people because they don't believe the same story that you do (about the same ******* god).

Religion is a crock of ****. Faith supersedes religion, if you can't use faith without proclaiming your religion I don't think you are believer in anything but a symbol of man (Cross, Crescent, Star are all man made symbols). But I am pretty stoned at the moment.
