that was my mind blowing up. I don't know what is more stupid, the retarded teenager in your analogy or the analogy itself.

That analogy for one is @#%^ing stupid, absolutely a waste of 30 seconds of my life (and yes this post is a waste of another 180 because ******** can't read and comprehend basic english), and two has nothing to do with anything related to a gay/lesbian soldiers ability to do ones job.

You are a @#%^ing idiot and I hate your clearly unlimited levels of stupid.

How many gay men fully took advantage of this change?

Amusingly, the study done prior to DADT being voted out referenced multiple allied states with their anti-homosexual restrictions lifted. Each said that the effects were minimal-to-none based to a decent degree on the fact that most gay soldiers didn't make any big production out of it. They kept doing what they were doing and just benefited from knowing they couldn't be expelled should they be (voluntarily or involuntarily) outed.

Of course, this was all silly-crazy-talk to the DADT repeal critics and they just KNEW it would be different in the US.

Of course... Any person who spent any time in the military knows that would be the result. That only contradicts that silly belief that most of the military was in favor of the repeal and want homosexuals to be open. Homosexuals keep to themselves because they don't want any unwanted attention, because the mass majority wasn't in favor of the repeal.

Bull Alma. Being in the military does not give you the right to be an ignorant, selfish bigot.

You can't handle the truth.

Almalieque on Post 206 wrote:
If you want to reorganize the military and it's rules, fine, but do so by looking at the whole "big" picture. Changing some rules, while not addressing other affected and/or related/similar policies breaks down the core of the military. This goes beyond "sexuality". For example, allowing people of certain religions to not shave, while forcing others to shave and not recognizing other religions that may have similar shaving rules.

This is not "The military is special, so we can do whatever we want". This is, "the military isn't like working at Burger King, changes have to be more carefully thought out". People ignorant on how the military works don't see how something as simple as repealing DADT affect other military procedures. Fortunately, the government handled it very well and made most of the necessary adjustments in procedures.

So you're cool with DADT repeal, outside of showers, now?

How is it that every other nation that's allowed homosexuals to openly serve hasn't had any setbacks but you think the US military will? Why is it, the supposed gold standard of world militarys, can't accomplish what many other nations have? Why6 do you think the US military is so incompetent?

We went over this already. If you hold the belief that the U.S military is the best military, then it's silly to want to emulate an inferior military. As what I proved to RDD, it's the people that make up the military, not the equipment. The equipment is a nice bonus, but the discipline, minds, courage, leadership, etc. of the service members are the things that make the U.S. successful.

I don't think this is generally a problem with a dude hitting on another dude, because gay men generally don't feel entitled to a straight dude's attention. So excuse me if I'm not offended on some guy's behalf when some man has the gall to call him attractive and then let it be if he says he's not interested.

Answer me this. How much attention would you give a guy that you aren't interested in as compared to a guy that you are interested in?

Your nice and/or quick dismissals that you mentioned in your post answers my question. If you're not interested in that guy, you probably wont continue conversing with him over drinks. When women do that, it makes many men think that the woman is interested in him, no matter what her Facebook status says. Some men are incapable of differentiating when a woman is being nice to him vs a woman actually liking him.

So, why would you think it would be any different with a homosexual?

????

That point wasn't even being mentioned... Nice attempt to be relevant in this discussion.

"Ms Wilson" was used to demonstrate how society has always looked down on people for having certain sexual experiences, legal or not. This was not a direct comparison to DADT, but to counter the belief that the only people who should care are the people involved.

So why are you treating it as such? Just about every other sexual nature is judged with no negative repercussion, yet simply implying non acceptance of homosexuality and you're a homophobic bigot.

Even if this were true to the degree you seem to be insisting this doesn't mean that you can't learn from other militaries, or that there isn't anything at all that other militaries do better. It seems that when multiple other countries have successfully implemented a policy you're considering, it would behoove you to study them and learn from them. The attitude of we're the best so can't learn anything from anyone else is stupid.

No, it's because unlike your insecure heterosexual ***, most people don't feel the need to flaunt their sexuality around.

It's also likely related to all of the Republicans who are yelling about how they're going to reenact DADT, meaning that outing yourself now could be a problem in a couple of years.

What a joke, any boob can be trained to take orders and fire a gun (I suppose thats how you got the job). The US is a good military because it has superior equipment, it is far superior to 90% of armies on this planet, and it is better equipped than any of the top tier nations.

The fact that some highschool recruit can sit in a tent and drop bombs on a garrison playing a video game like software engine for a UAV is why America is the big **** on the street, the fact it has more planes then most nations where ever it wants (ty you super aircraft cariers), the fact its tanks are the most advanced offensively and defensively. The fact a destroyer can take out a compound from a thousand miles away with pin point accuracy. This is why your army is good.

People in armies are the same everywhere, they follow orders, and learn to shoot stuff, what makes a nation a powerful army is how awesome the stuff they shoot is. Period.

The other two parts are fine, but that part is just dumb. It's like if I said "this apple is red because it reflects light a certain way and because it's red." Sure, the first part is true, but the second part is awfully redundant.

You're right, we can learn from other militaries. I'm just dismissing the "well everyone else does it, so it's ok!!" nonsense. If you believe that the U.S is "the best", then they are obviously doing something right that the others are all doing wrong. You just can't randomly say it is or isn't this or that just to support your argument.
