Republicans. They don’t like to regulate business. They’ll let businesses rape consumers so long as the businesses pay up when expected. The idea behind this is that if you’re going to run a business and do a good enough job raping people that they’ll let you, then you deserve your ill-gotten earnings and there’ no such thing as ill-gotten earnings, anyway, is there? I mean, they’re EARNED, so that makes it all fair, right? They also like to spend big on guns and make sure that we all know that there are times when it’s OK to shoot another person such as when someone with the same color skin stole an airplane and drove it into a building or if they happen to be trying to steal some of your earnings. They don’t like anything free. If you want something, you should have to go out and earn it, damnit! If you don’t have the means to earn what you want, then you should pick yourself up by the bootstraps until you can earn that or just adjust your expectations to the realistic horizons caused by your own suckiness. Seriously, if oil companies earn record profits for 4 years in a row while the price of their product triples, that’s nothing but good management. REAL good management. They should probably get some tax incentives for being so good at what they do. And if they need to, let’s do some of the work overseas because it’s cheaper there. That drives higher profits and lower prices.
Democrats. They don’t like for anyone to have too much of something. The more you earn, the more taxes you should pay and there should be no way out of it. Now, there’s not going to be any sort of heavy tax on what you HAVE because that would take money out of the pockets of decent hard-working congressmen who have lived for generations off of trust fund money set up by their Prohibition liquor-running relatives. I mean, that would be oppressive. Businesses should carry a large portion of the tax burden. It’s not like they really do anything except give people a place to work and services and products. Sheesh. Every school should be free. So should your housing, food and creature comforts while you attend school. And you should go for as long as you want for as many things as you want and never have to contribute anything back unless you actually feel like it eventually. And nobody should be held back from anything because we all know that grades are just an arbitrary measure. Get rid of those silly scores in little league, too. How can kids have fun if they lose sometimes? Nobody should have to do anything unless they really want to, including work. There should be social programs to take care of those who don’t want to work. Those people should probably have a union, too. That way they’d be organized and able to address the problems with their social workers when problems arise. Of course, we’ll have to compensate them more so that they can afford the union dues. I mean, if they don’t pay dues, how can the union be profitable for the Mafia? And if the Mafia doesn’t get a big enough cut, how are they going to kick in for a good campaign? We should never buy anything made overseas because those people are nice, but… Well, they smell funny. They’re ok when they live here and need something as a minority group but if you get a bunch of them together, ewwww. And if we buy things from overseas, then they might buy things from us, and we might have to learn how to talk funny smelling people talk. And some of them might undercut the pricing on the $59.99 union-made-in-America deck of playing cards you see at Wal-Mart. And god-forbid, it might even be a better product. It’s much safer to keep those people in abject poverty by not sharing any business, any technology, or any funny talk with them except at occasional dinner parties where we agree to continue being oppressive traders, loaning them money and then writing off the loans with love and forgiveness. I mean, otherwise, they might grow economies and sell things back and forth between each other and other countries and next thing you know they’d begin to think they’re equal and we shouldn’t be condescending twats whenever we speak to them. The horror!
The single biggest factor contributing to our high gas prices in America is that our actions have begun to show consequences. For a couple of decades we’ve farmed out labor to places like China and India. And you can only sell so many cars to America before you start selling them at home, too. It’s called modernization and it’s happening across the world. Side by side with undeveloped areas there are places with staggering amounts of technology. That technology requires things to drive it. Infrastructure. Materiel. Cash flow. And a lot of that has driven the price of oil up because there are new hungry markets. For decades we’ve paid Arab nations a pittance compared to what we were paying producers here in the US and driven our own economy using what we stole from them. The truth of the matter is that if the USA walked into the Middle East and took over every oil well that exists and ran them like we wanted, gas prices would go up, not down. Why? Because we won’t work that cheap; we just want others to do so. Globalization, as it continues, will put ever-increasing demands on the supply of oil on the planet. Enjoy your Sunday drives while you can still afford them.
No matter where you sit on the party lines, this is a real issue that won’t go away. The immediate greed of the Republican Party along with the somewhat inevitable nature of technology bleed to other places has established real and growing economies that will forever compete with our own. This is pretty bad for gas prices.
The Democratic Party isn’t any better with the isolationist stance they have. Oh, they’re plenty friendly to foreigners, but they don’t cozy up to them the way Pubbies do because they aren’t looking for cheap labor. Their biggest thing is that they’d rather pretend that the rest of the world somehow doesn’t deserve the chance to catch up to us. It’d be better to keep them where they belong: groveling in the dust for handouts. Besides, those pictures with the starving kids, showing how you’re helping…those are great press. Give them food, not jobs. Give them loans, not the ability to make money. Sure, write off a few billion every year, so long as it keeps them in their place.
Frankly, both parties disgust me. I’d rather vote for my dog. Washington was soooo right whenhe said we should avoid the evils of party politics.
