I mean, propanganda? Com'n man. The President has nothing to do with this trial, nor has he ever. He didn't catch the man, order him caught, try him, convict him, or pee in that guy's general direction.

From the White House, President Bush said Wednesday the verdict "represents the end of this case but not an end to the fight against terror." He said Moussaoui got a fair trial and the jury spared his life, "which is something that he evidently wasn't willing to do for innocent American citizens."

Nope, no political ties at all.

I am quite surprised by the verdict. I was certain that if a group of US citizens had the change to execute someone they perceived as being culpable for 9/11, they would do it.

I guess this demonstrates just how much of the "sting" has worn off 9/11. A year or two ago, he would have been executed, I'm sure of it.

In the end, I'm glad. I didn't want him to get the death penalty--even if he did have something to do with 9/11, which I doubt--I do believe that he is trying to go for martyrdom, and therefore that is the very thing he should be denied. I do believe that there are some cases where the death penalty is merited. I just believe in this case, the more severe punishment is to NOT gratify his wish for martyrdom.

for me it was a good choise.

it was leave him to rot in a nameless prison hated by all the inmates and forgotten by the Islamic world withing a year

Or

Make him a Martyr and a focal point for further attacks.

Sure it doesn't give the instant satisfation that a chair would but in reality it's probably worse for him.

As far as insane ramblings go, I'm betting his memoirs are going to be worth a read. I'm glad he's been spared so I'll have something to thumb through while I'm on the toilet.

The best part of Fratelli dribbled down his daddy's leg.

The life sentence is good. 1) no automatic appeal, 2) he doesn't become the martyr, 3) I doubt "life" will be very long, 4) Bush gets something to draw Americans' attention away from the oil companies ramming us all up the backside.
