Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha has confirmed she will direct the film version of '80s soap Dallas.

John Travolta will play JR Ewing, the role made famous by Larry Hagman, while Shirley MacLaine plays Miss Ellie.

Jennifer Lopez and Luke Wilson, Chadha told the BBC's Breakfast programme, were "quite close" to signing up to star as Sue Ellen and Bobby Ewing.

I am so not looking forward to this, the one word that comes to mind is "Tacky".
I would be more impressed with a British conversion more like "lock stock and two smoking barrels" Smiley: grin

You could have a battle not over oil, but over a brewery empire. Vinny Jones could star .....
The cast of footballers wives could make guest appearances and the setting could be sunny slough.

Now the really scary part is this:

Quote:
The British director said the film, set for release in 2007, would be "very true to the original series.

So does that mean, after a film where half the people die, divorce and start a texan war over Ewing Oil .... that all the dead people will suddenly walk out of showers saying "have a nice dream hun?" Smiley: rolleyes

Duh, the whole idea behind Dallas was tacky.

I just read that Jennifer Lopez has signed on to play Sue Ellen. I wonder if they'll get Marc Anthony to play a gardener.
