Recommend something please. I'm on nyquil at night and claritin during the day (yes I know claritin isn't cold medicine, but I needed a non-drowsy antihistamine). Anything you swear by? I want to try something new just for kicks, since this misery is evidently not going anywhere. I've been sick for a week and a half. I think I'm in negative sick time at work.

Clearly I have the black death.

There isn't an antihistamine in Dayquil unfortunately, and I can't exhist without one. My body is producing more snot than any other bodily fluid at the moment.

You're welcome for that.

There's that cold and flu tea that you make up, I always liked that stuff, it works well. I can't remember the exact name of it but it's in a blue box and says COLD & FLU on it.

Yeah, I'm no help.

I used to take Dayquil with the generic Tylenol-esque brand Daytime Sinus med. I made sure it didn't say "allergy" because it would make me sleepy, but those two together made me feel like I wasn't even sick.

DAyQuil may not have antihistamine, but I know that I DOES dry you out... I think that it's psuedoephedrine in it..

Thera Flu Daytime formula is great. Tylenol night time flu is wonderful. I was never able to do nyquil as I felt like I had a hangover the next. Thera Flu night time is good also.

Hope you feel better soon.

I know things work a little backwards in the US, but can you not go to a doc to make sure it's just a virus and perhaps talk him into writing you a prescription covered by a health plan?

Actually, with a bacterial infection he can write a prescription. A virus just has to run its course.

Try Theraflu's Cold & Cough tea (if you like tea; if not, find the gelcaps or some other form of their product). Combination antihistimine, decongestant, and cough supressant.

I usually keep their `Flu and Sore Throat` product around for wintertime colds.

Also, Darqueflame recommended Mucinex to me once to clear up goo, and it supposedly has a cult mommy following.

Theraflu, that's the one I was talking about. Good stuff.

/nod Mucinex must have been made by someone who sold their soul to the devil because that shit works every time. I use that as my last ditch desperate stop.

If I don't have Mucinex on hand, I'll use Nyquil at night and Dayquil during the day and I just sip on Theraflu all day long.

A Hot Tottie made with lemon flavored Thera-Flu instead of tea. Some honey added in is also nice to sweeten it up a bit, I prefer Orange Blossom.
