us boaters attacked and shot in cuban watersFollow

a 40 foot speed boat (im envious)regestered in the U.S., in cuban waters runs from the cuban coast guard and gets fired upon. one person dead, two wounded.

addministraition officials are....deeply.....disturbed about the incident.

well, after some soul searching, i can honestly say, im not disturbed. any of you? kind of like the "brothers to the rescue" thing. thumb your nose at a foreign country, and the rest of us are supposed to care if you get smacked?

what distrubs me the most is, what are tey going to do with the boat? dothey have cuban auctions? can americans bid on them?

If a Cuban speed boat were running from the US Coast Guard in US waters I'd expect exactly the same result.

Diturbed? Not really. That's pretty much to be expected. Sovereign nations have every right to defend and protect their shores.

Ya, because a speed boat sure is one hell of a threat to a country. I mean, who knows what horrors it might unleash... like, water-skiing in their territory! Oh noes!

Huh. Tell that to the various vessels pirated in Somali waters recently.

Ain't just you E_odus. When I was teaching English in southern Spain some years ago, a local (not so literate) girl spelled "Sevilla" as "Zebiya"

My favourite personal fu[Azure][/Azure]ck-up was when I was at an Ice-Cream stand ordering an Ice Cream Cone - in the local vernacular, "Un Cono".

Alas, I thought there was a tilde in there somewhere, so I mistakenly asked for "Un Coño". The fact that I wanted a strawberry one with hazlenut sprinkle didn't help. Smiley: oyvey

(Flea'lo can explain if it isn't obvious)

Strawberry with hazelnuts? I don't think I CAN explain that! Mango sorbet all the way!

If the U.S. took that stance there would be millions of dead Cuban refugees.
