I'm starting up an internet radio station and need music to play on it. I have a lot of punk, pop, rock, metal, classic rock, and emo.

I'm looking for anything other than those types of music but you can suggest bands from those types.

I especially need to find some Ska and some Rap/hip-hop.

for Ska, check out Save Ferris, Mad Caddies, The Aquabats, Dance Hall Crashers.

For punk, while you said you have enough, heres a few more faves: The Living End, Unwritten Law, Bad Religion, Wizo.

For hip-hop, MC Solaar is just godlike. There's a ton of good hip-hop coming out of Africa and the Caribbean as well.

I knew you would eventually prove your youth.

All I have to say is /slap.

3rd wave is not f'ucking Ska.

Check out the Skatalites, early Madness and the Specials, The Beat, Prince Buster, etc.

If the Ska/Punk "Skate-core" (3rd Wave) thing is where you wanna go (you get a slap too), check out the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Sublime, Op Ivy (and Rancid, by direct descent), Goldfinger and Skankin Pickle will take you where you wanna go. Save Ferris, the Aquabats and Skankin Pickle poke a lot of fun at the genre, but they throw some catchy pop songs.

Play some Doris Day. I bet there's a million internet radio stations playing some mix of ska, hip-hop, punk... blah, blah and almost none who play any Doris Day.

Find a niche!

add Toots and the Maytals, Desmond Dekker, Brian Lee and the Dragonaires, Laurel Aitken, and the Ethiopians and you're golden. (throw some old Bob Marley and the Wailing Wailers (Studio 1) ska songs in there too)

You want somthing passing for decent "modern" ska try Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra.

I remember the first time I heard Mommy's Little Monster, by Social Distortion. I was hooked, man. I was in the fourth grade, and the big kid across the street was tossing LPs on the turntable, when all of the sudden the bar chords came flying at me and BAM! I was a punk fan. Over a decade later I heard Mike Ness come out on stage and thank the city of San Francisco for being a city that embraced punk when punk was still dangerous. I may be an old fart, but I know where the music comes from.

Really? I wouldn't have picked a lot of it for ska. I love the soundtrack. It was the first time I heard Jimmy Cliff, but I wouldn't necessarily call it ska. Just me, though.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that your internet radio station format sucks. Too many f[black][/black]ucking genres, narrow it down and like Joph suggested play some Doris Day. In fact play nothing but Doris Day, you could even call it "All 'Day' Long:Your 24 hour Doris Day Internet Radio Station".

Boy I 'd bet you would get some weird listeners.

my radio station will be a 24/7 internet radio station with live shows every day. I have shows specifically for some genres and I will also have hours and hours of nothing but music.

It's like a normal radio station....but on the internet and much less obsessed with playing just what's on the top 40.

you're right. It's 'rocksteady' for the most part. Still classicly good music however... but maybe not the typical "fat-drunken-fratboy" rhythm that he's looking for.

Still, he should put it on there.. open some horizons.

Drift, "Cry" from Faith Hill has some great diverse songs on it. Not that all of her CDs aren't good, but that one stands out.

Cody, the only thing good about any of Faith Hill CD's, is that the inner sleeve might contain semi-nude pictures of her in the liner notes, which certain individuals might feel compelled to ********** to.

Instead go get yourself a copy of "Fox Confessor Brings The Flood" , by Neko Case. Next go get a copy of Heart, "Little Queen" and Big Brother and The Holding Company, "Cheap Thrills", featuring Janis Joplin.

If you keep listening to Faith Hill, you will be doomed to a career at Wal-mart, the choice is yours.
