My daughter contracted PINK EYE over the weekend and I had to stay home with her today and most likely will again tomorrow. I would take any illness my family has suffered through this past winter than having to deal with pink eye, and bronchitis, the flu, and strep throat all visited House of Thumbelyna in the past few months.

I spent last night semi-awake holding my daughter's hands as to prevent her from rubbing her eyes in her sleep. And trying to keep a kid from touching their eyes is like trying to tell Tom Cruise to get off a couch.

I am wiping down every surface in my home after my daughter has touched it. She thought that was a lovely game and started running around the house touching everything and laughing at me in her wake, knowing that I have to yet grab another roll of paper towels to clean up after her. After sitting her down on the couch and telling her to stop doing that, she promptly began to cry and fell down face first on the couch and rubbed her face all over the cushion. The sofa cushion covers are in the wash right now with the cushions prompt up because I had to clean those too. Smiley: banghead

I have had to wash her bedding and will have to wash it again tomorrow.

I know I'm probably being a bit more OCD than necessary, but anyone who has had a kid with pink eye knows the pain. Smiley: cry

That's what you get for using worschestshire sauce as an embalming fluid.

Here, have some ointment.

Thumbelyna, my kids have both had Conjunctivitis. They both attend public day care so they catch it there. It is extremely contagious.

Whenever my kids get Conjunctivitis, I automatically take them to their doctor. He prescribes them an eye ointment antibiotic which works very well. Usually, Conjunctivitis is not contagious after the first 24 hrs, if your child has been on the antibiotic. So, if your daughter is on the medicine, you shouldn't have to wash the bedding again. If she is not, I would suggest, if possible, you take her to see her doctor. If Conjunctivitis goes untreated, it can lead to other serious medical problems.

Here's a link to WedMD: http://www.webmd.com/hw/vision/hw107374.asp

I hope this helps...

If they give you the drops (expensive, over $50, my HMO covered $5 Smiley: mad), I believe 2 doses of those and she's no longer contagious.

Got the antibiotic eyedrops from her doctor when I took her over the weekend. Her eye is clearing up for the most part, but still a tad crusty which is why I'm still cleaning up after her. Doctor told me that while her eye still "oozes" to keep her home (which is the school policy as well).

Those antibiotics are a scam. Just pour a bottle of hydrogen peroxide on her peepers.

Just let her touch whatever she wants and then set fire to it.
