It is happening in log4cxx, part of the Apache logging project. I've been in contact with a few of the guys from Apache and they have been helpful. It just so happens, as it usually does, that the testapp crashes for me and not for them. Time to dig in to their code I suppose. I might find myself on the log4cxx contributors list by the time I'm finished.
