Ain't technology a fine and dandy thing?

Here I am sitting in a rather swish bar in France, taking a time-out from the fine food and secksay waitresses to gloat with my e-Buddies.

Yep - got bored last night, told the team to cope without me for the week and drove over this morning.

So in case you were wondering; the steak was beautifully cooked, the wine (a rather impertinent little '97 Sauternes) was impeccable, and when the tall waitress with the enticingly bouncing pony-tail walks like a gazelle - the back of her trousers looks like two little boys fighting in a sack.

Tomorrow I have a pressing appointment with the road; whatever happens, I have to be up and in the car by. . . well, whatever the fu[/Bisque]ck time I feel like.

I fancy some nice Chocolate. . . Hmm. Yep. Belgium next, I think.

I'll try to keep you up to speed with more installments of "Nobby Does Europe"

Au revoir mes petits moogle-fu[Bisque]
ckeurs.

Good luck with that nation wide strike. May you trip on a striking employee and stub your smug toe.

You know where I could go right now?

Elmhurst.

I haven't been to Elmhurst in a while but it's maybe a 40min drive and, as I recall, they have steak, booze and broads with pony tails. Can you be in Elmhurst in forty minutes?

Didn't THINK so!

I'm in Villa Park The Garden Village, which is right next door to beautiful Elmhurst, in an industrial park near the boulevard of dreams called North Avenue, aka Route 64.

I'm about to take an exciting trip to the "Jewel's", which is a fabulous grocery store, and get me some of that fine deep-fried chicken they serve at the deli. I plan to wash it down with Diet Coke Splendatm.

Maybe I'll live dangerous today and try the cole slaw too!

Either that or some deli ham and fine american cheese imported from Wisconsin, mmm succulent.

Also they do have booze and broads in Elmhurst, and an exciting museum dedicated to the Lapidary Arts , and you thought that those French people had all the exciting museums.

Francesca's Amici for dinner, Fitz's Pub around the corner for the booze and broads.

<3 Elmhurst...

Yesterday, I was out for a scoot on my motorcycle and did a trip through Niagara Falls (Canada). I drove down a street (Bridge St.) that I had been down may times before, but have never run the length of. I decided I'd like to know where it ended up.

After a few minutes past the point I had previously traveled, I crested a hill of which I never recalled being beyond. To my left was a VIA rail train station, which I remembered taking a train from some 17 years ago. Oh the memories. Almost immediately across the street however was an establishment that was not there 17 years ago. Some strip club called "Barely Legal", which in Ontario means 18-20.

I carried on to the end of the street which coincidentally ended at the parkway right at the bridge to the USA. I think that proves beyond all resonable doubt that Americans are perverts and Canadians like taking their money. How's that for an abstract parallel?

Update

Spent Tuesday in Bruges (Brugge in Flemish; an ugly language that requires 2 pints of phlegm to pronounce each syllable). Excellent beers as usual, nice food, very nice wimmin.
Stayed in a quaint hotel with hot and cold running conference delegates and a bartender with an impressive nervous tic. Poor ******* - a neurotic affliction, AND belgian! Sheesh!

Yesterday morning I headed East, but missed the turning for Elmhurst and ended up in Dusseldorf. I ate a traditional German Kebab washed down with traditional German Coca-Cola.

Awesome shopping street though: Konigstrasse is clearly aimed at all the bankers; $50,000 fur coats, and every other shop was some designer-ponce outfitter with a gheyer-than-ghey obsequious assistant (almost certainly called "Serge" or "Emile").

As it was pissing down I spent the evening in the hotel bar.
Alas, as I now sport a trimmed Goatie, I lost a few Euros in the "who has the bushiest facial hair" competition to a group of Bavarian Masseuses, but they were in good spirits and my bruising should be faded in time for Boston.

Today, after a brief trip into Cologne to see the awesome cathedral again, was spent not quite blowing up my car. Those Autobahns - they tease and entice. Before long I'd given into temptation and floored it - 1st time this Diesel jobby has been let loose on the A-Bahns. Happily sat at 120mph for half an hour but I got silly and it started sounding like a Hippo's fart at 128 so I wussed out. Crappy Diesels :-(

Ah well, now back in the pert and pointy bosom of La Belle France. Another evening of Belle Cuisine and failed drunken flirting with teh gurlies awaits, then Cap'n Nobby sails the seven seas (Well, the English Channel) back to old Blighty. Har-Haaar!
