I'm as much of a fashion ***** as the next gal, but this is just the whole Paris-Hilton-Dog-as-Accesory-thing gone wrong. I can imagine they would be fun for a while, but do you really want to come home to discover that
a)Your $40 brooch has disappeared into your kitchen trash bin
b)Your $80 brooch has been eaten by your cat after having its legs torn off
c)Your mother/SO/friend has stepped on your $60 brooch, obliterating the swarovski crystal sparkliness with goo?

Also interesting to note that, according to the article, there doesn't seem to be much of an outcry by PETA.

LOL Americans just love finding new ways to waste large amounts of money.

Doesn't PETA even care about roaches too!?

I'll ingore your grammar long enough to say: I guess not. Searches on the PETA site for "roach jewelry", "Jared Gold" and Black Chandelier" turned up no hits.

That said.. "even care too"? Smiley: dubious

That's absolutely horrid. What is wrong with people? I don't care if they're just bugs, and if I saw one in the kitchen I would squish it. However, I wouldn't stick pins in it.

That has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. I thought women hated bugs, especially roaches?

What do you do when it dies, wear it?

edit: I didn't see that people actually wear these alive! Really no words to describe..../shudder

Really, how hard is it to hold a bug and glue stones to it?

For me personally I would have to say very hard...considering the very thought of holding a giant hissing cockroach for any reason makes me want to claw my eyes out.

I'm a girly girl.

They probably pull out some Fear Factor style cockroach pen to desensitize the employees.

nice to know that when human society collapses, the bombs go off, and that the only thing left is the roaches, that they'll at least look fashionable against the nuclear fallout backdrop.

Eww.

No way, no how. If it has more than four legs, keep it the hell away from me. It needs to be smeared over the bottom of a shoe, not riding on my tit.

I'm with Nexa. Girly girls FTW.

(Besides, $40-80 for a brooch is $40-80 not spent on shoes.)

If you were going to give someone a gift of jewelry made from a living insect.... how would you broach the subject?
