Just because they're selling the pill?

Nah, I'll still shop at Walmart when convienence dictates it, but I'll despise myself a little bit each time I do.

I recently bought a whole 'nice' outfit at Walmart. I needed someting cute, kinda sexy but not too much as I'm getting kinda old for too much sexy (though size five still fits precisely). I had shopped all the boutiques for days not finding anything. I was gonna settle for something I already had but went to Walmart the day before this event to get my husband a belt and found the perfect outfit. Skirt, top, bra and even some hot brown suede boots........all from Walmart. Smiley: grin

Much as I hate walmart it's hard to talk trash about a place that provides so many jobs where I live, including my own, and actually gives us small town hicks a place to shop without driving 3 hours.

And as evil as they are, why bother caring? It it's not them it's some other company. Big Buisness = big evil, not much we can do about it.

I don't have a problem with Walmart being big. I don't even have a problem with them being evil. I've got a fear of them becoming the only choice. That's why I don't really shop there for somethng unless they happen to be the only place to get that something. I've got enough disposable income to make that choice an easy one, so why not?

I'm still stradling the fence on wether or not I think this should be sold via a retail pharmacy. Part of me says the girls taking this should be monitored in a hospital setting the other part of me knows that there are those afraid enough of the stigma to want to do it at home. I dont know.

Bah. The pill should be over the counter.

Anyone who says different should unpucker.

I consider myself pro-choice and am all for abortion etc. I think it's a shame that you could buy condoms and get other types of birth control there. But at the same time not get a pill that performs the exact same function except taken the morning after intercourse.

Not everyone in this country can afford or even get access to cheap or free birth control. So when quite possibly the only means they have (a condom for example) breaks, there is no option to go and buy this pill.

Plan B should be otc. It's birth control, not an abortion. Shame on you Wal-Mart for not even giving the option in the first place.

Now to just wait for it to get approved for otc use. Any wagers on how long it'll take?

RU-486 and the Plan B pill are different.

RU-486 only has limited success if taken the morning after intercourse. 486 is effective once a woman is pregnant. Plan B is simply a super high dosage of hormones.

Hence the reasoning there has been a large outcry over RU-486, because it's essentially an abortion in a pill. 'Course, it's much more technical than all that, but there is a pretty big difference.

I think that it is good that Wal-Mart is carrying this, becuase the main reason why ppl were against it was because of their religion, and they think birth control is a sin. -.- I think it is good because a woman should have more options, like the OP said its not as potent as the one the given to a woman when she is already pregnant. It is used to prevent pregnancy like the OP said like if a condom breaks or something. After taking the pill a woman's period would start either that day or the following day to prevent pregnancy.(I have taken it myslef, so I know from experience) Also, to purchase it you have to take a Tabbed paper to the pharmacists to receive it, like you have to for the 24hr Sudafed, so its not like you could walk up and buy 5 packs.

Exactly the point. Also, what most people *should* know, but don't is that the "Plan B" pill's effects are virtually identical to simply taking two of your regular pills the morning after intercourse (assuming you're using the tri-whatzit variety, which is pretty much what 99% of women are using today). It's just a higher dose of the same hormones.

Yea, I guess it's a good think I said MORNING AFTER PILL. I never said Plan B. Next time I will put a "Slightly Out of Topic" disclaimer on it (when I'm refering to something similair but not the same thing) so you don't get confused. Ya fuc[red][/red]king ninny.

EDIT: None of your buisness.

Ortho-tricyclen... That stuff gives me morning sickness. Bleh

Anyhow, good for Wal-Mart. I would be very happy if the Plan B pill was reqired to be stocked by pharmacies everywhere. I agree with Paskil about it being a shame they would sell other forms of birth control, and not this.

I can't hate Wal-Mart too much though, they pay for much of my University.
