Since Bodhi asked how I was doing last week, I thought I would share a transcript of a day in the life. This particular day being last Friday. Backstory is, I had four midterms to study for over the weekend (two down, two to go as of today):

UNKNOWN TIME EARLY FRIDAY MORNING--
UPS computer backup power battery thingy: BEEEP!!!
Sleeping!Ambrya: Wha--huh?
Sleeping!Hubby: Power's out, don't you hear the wind?
UPS thingy: BEEEP!!!
Sleeping!Ambrya: Shaddup!
UPS thingy: BEEEP!!!
Sleeping!Hubby: You need to shut down your computer and turn the UPS off.
UPS thingy: BEEEP!!!
UPS thingy: BEEEP!!!
UPS thingy: BEEEP!!!
NotSleeping!Ambrya: All right, all right, I'm coming!
UPS thingy: BEEEEP!!!
UPS thingy: BEEEEP!!!
UPS thingy: BEEEEP!!!
NotSleeping!Ambrya: Fu[/black]ck, it's dark in here...
UPS thingy: BEEEEEP!!!
UPS thingy: BEEEEEP!!!
UPS thingy: BEEEEEP!!!
NotSleeping!Ambrya: *is crawling under desk* Take that, sumbish!
UPS thingy: *is silent*
NotSleeping!Ambrya: *bangs head on bottom side of desk* Owww, fuu[black]
uck!

LATER THAT SAME MORNING:
NotSleeping!Hubby: *is taking a mental health day* Power's back on.
Sleeping!Ambrya: Sh[/black]it, I guess this means I have to get up do my Human Development web course paper and midterm to get them out of the way so I can study for the A&P midterms allll weekend long.

EARLY THAT AFTERNOON:
Portland area: *is very cold, with highs in the 20s, and extremely windy*
Ambrya: *is getting back from an appointment* It's chilly in here
Hubby: Power has been off, just came back on again.
Ambrya: Think I'll sit down and have lunch while watching the Olympic men's figure skating that I recorded in the middle of the night last night
DishDVR: *has only 1 hour of the 3+ of the Olympics due to power outage*
Ambrya: Aww, fu[black]
ck. Back to Human Development it is!

EARLY THAT EVENING:
Portland area: *is still very windy and cold*
Ambrya: *is almost finished with Human Development stuff and ready to begin on A&P*
Power: *Goes out*
House: Bzzzzttt! *Gets eerily silent as all electronic hums cease*
Lamps: *Go out*
UPS thingy: BEEEP!!!
Ambrya: Dammit, not again! I was almost finished!
Computer: *is highly effective as large, ugly paperweight*
Ambrya: *is lighting candles and thinking about a candlelight bath*
Hubby: So, uh, it's getting cold in here, what with the heat not running, and quite dark
Ambrya: Ok, let me pack up all my textbooks (whose primary component seems to be anvils) and we'll relocate to your parent's house, as your parents are conveniently on vacation right now. At least I can still work on my A&P.
Textbooks: *are fu[/black]cking heavy*
Textbooks: *are REALLY fu[black]
cking heavy*
Hubby's's parent's house: *is ever colder than home, on account of their having been on vacation for over a week, but at least has power*
Paul's parent's TV: *has BSG*
Ambrya and Hubby: *are happy BSG viewers*

AFTER BSG:
Hubby: I'll go check and see if the power is back on at home yet

TEN MINUTES LATER:
Hubby: Power is back on at home
Ambrya: Ok, let's head home so I can finish Human Development
Textbooks: *are still REALLY fu[/black]cking heavy*

TEN MINUTES AFTER THAT:
Ambrya and Hubby: *are arriving at home*
Home: *is dark and silent*
Ambrya and Hubby: Ok then! Back to mom and dads.

LATE THAT NIGHT:
Hubby's parent's guest bed: *is comfortable as a rock*
Hubby: *is sleeping, sorta*
NotSleeping!Ambrya: *is missing her bed at home*

WEE-SMALL HOURS SATURDAY MORNING:
ReallyNotSleeping!Ambrya: Fu[black]
ck, I might as well study, I can't sleep on this torture device passing itself off as a bed
Studying!Ambrya: *is awake all night long*
Studying: *is less than effective on account of sleep deprivation*
Ambrya: *is frustrated and sleepless* Fu[/black]ck, I've lost a whole day to this sh[black]it

Yep, sometimes you just have those days where the universe in general conspires to make your life hell. Friday was one of those.

I thought my day sucked.

Thanks Ambrya!

PS. Lose the "Hubby" references next time. You broke my daydream.

Mmm, Bodhi, you're distracting me from my midterms.

Actually, if it hadn't been for the massive studying needing to be done, I am sure an unnamed somebody (happy, Nobby?) and I wouldn't have minded the lack of a furnace so much. Surely there was some way for us to generate heat there in the candlelight...

Alas, school once again destroys what could have been a promising scenario.
