As I post this message on the Internet (invented in the United States), I can't help but wonder why someone would complain about the United States in English when they could be doing so in German, Italian or Japanese (hint hint).
Because kids today in the US don't bother to learn any other language but their own and perhaps how to talk street lingo or something. That's why. ;)
I ran into an old guy at the post office once who could speak five languages, as could his wife, and he and she were both American.
I bet if he wanted to, he could complain about the United States in German, Italian, Russian, Spanish and I don't remember what other languages he spoke. :P
I can only speak English and Vet-Babble (as my husband puts it). Running into that old guy made me feel very uneducated.
