well... im not going to make myself look like a total moron and reject completely to this post... but ok you know what? im going to anyway... united states of africa? where the hell did you get that? afro americans? right... and i am pretty sure some people are happy to be called americans, the only reason blacks are called african-americans is because it is not politically correct to call them blacks, or other racist terms people have come up for them. anyway, what country do you come from? i got an idea! lets make random posts and diss it! 'nuff said.

actually america won its freedom from great britain by beating them in war. Sure they could have claimed not to give us up but the americans would never have let them land a ship there again lol. Either way it was more economical for gb to let them go which it did. As for the African americans that is a long sad story of slavery and even those in europre cannot claim innosence for it as they all held slaves in one point of history or another. Many Americans nowadays are arrogant and basically aholes... i agree with that and im a american, but back then they had it right so ***** you!

and lets not forget who the original americans were! People persecuted and made unwanted by gasp you guessed it! europeans! so please dont try to play innocent... europe has its share of wrong doings.... ex: a certain german dictator ( hmm who saved europe from this guy?? oh yea the united states! all the rest of europe fell to him!!), the church when it ran the government, the crusades. All in all perhaps you people from other countries should relize that everyone in the united states is NOT a jerk just like your own country for instance, everywhere has its share of aholes... i dont judge you or your country by he first person i meet.. think of it that way

I think some of the trouble is when people generalize a government and make it seem like the average everyday citizens are responsible for the actions of its administrations.

OR Vice Versa, blaming the government of a country for the actions of its general populous.

Although I wasn't there when it happened, the general attitude of the period seemed to be, 'Can we at least get our ******* troops out of that hellhole of a New World? It's nothing but a money sink, anyway! They don't even want to pay their taxes and it's halfway around the world. It's just not worth it. Let the trash we left over there and the Indians kill each other.'

That's what I picked up in my history classes, anyway. This place was viewed as just not worth the effort it would take to keep a hold on it. People who demand to be free and are willing to win that freedom at any cost, will be free. Or dead. But the problem won't linger.

I'm of the opinion that we're currently doing the right thing in Iraq. Often, the right thing is the one that's hardest to do and most criticized. Those people will cherish their freedom, once they have had it long enough to understand what it is. It is not easy for them; they suffer daily in this war, sometimes at the hands of their 'liberators.' Once we have pulled out, then they will begin to actually govern themselves. They will make decisions, not all of which will be the ones we want. They will be sovereign. They will probably make drastic changes to the governing structure. And more likely than not, they will oppose our wishes from time to time just to show that they are not our puppets. But they will no longer be headed down the road to sure destruction that Saddam had the country on. It will be a path of their own choosing.

As for all of those nasty things said about America in the opening statements, most of them are true. But we're still the most powerful economic and military force on the planet. That goes for the USA individually and America(s) as well if you lump us all together. So what does that make everyone else? Second fiddle. So shut up and follow our lead.

if the "average everyday citizens" sit on their asses eating hot dogs and watching the sports seasons float by while doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to try and make a change, they are just as guilty. Is not a person who watches a murder and does nothing about it at fault as well?

...by the people, for the people? it's slowly become an entity of its own.

Take into account though, say ..2 states like Palastine and Israel..
One says, "we won't bomb you, as long as you don't bomb us"..
Then, a bunch of the 'local populous' goes on and have some meeting in a dark room and decide to blow up a pizza shop...
Suddenly the other State is like, "We warned you bastards" and goes and bombards their neighbor with missles.
Even though, the goverment Didn't order any explosions or bombs... the people WILL take matters into there own hands regardless of waht the government says... but It's all the same to the State that is having it's pizza shops get blown up... so they just let all hell break lose on the other state..... basically the government and the civillians are left taking the wrap for the actions of some group that they have no control over...
But I guess that's the beauty of living in civilization. It all get's heaped into one lump called poltics.

in theory
