Damn. Sorry to hear they didn't make it. Then again, maybe it's for the best. I'm pretty sure that if they had made the finals and won, that would meet the criteria for at least 6 doomsday prophecy signs of the apocalypse

You think I'm kidding. My wife is not going to be happy. I may not be Curt Schilling, but when I hurl a remote control directly at the wall with all the force I can muster something has to give. I guess it's better than the coffee table I kicked to pieces after the Eagles lost the Championship game a couple years ago.

I take this stuff way too seriously.

Guess I'll go turn on WIP and commiserate with the rest of the city over yet another loss.

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Heck no. The Phillies are in first place. This could be our year at last. Sure we're the losingest franchise in sports history, but we're due. Yeah. We're due. We have Thome and Wagner and Burrell doesn't suck anymore. Go Fightins!

See it's a sickness I tell you. It's just a sickness.

Well the good thing is so much practice has taught me how to deal with this. I'm going to grab a book off my shelf (I have a couple thousand sf and fantasy books I've collected and read multiple times) plus a bottle of scotch and a good cigar, and go out on my porch and re-read the book, get drunk and smoke my cigar.

Ahh, that's a relief. For a while there I thought you were going to drink the cigar, read the scotch, and smoke the book.

The Red Sox are my favorite sports team at the moment.

Besides, of course, the NY Jets.

they didn't always suck. they usually would just wait until playoffs to suck.

Very true. I was at the Pens/Flyers playoff game a few years ago that went into quintuple (yes, that's 5) OT. Now THAT was a good season. I think they actually got better by ditching that little crybaby ***** Jagr, but doomed themselves by letting Mario play again. It seemed to me that his comeback was the catalyst to their downfall.

There's a lot to be said about teams that are "rebuilding", despite how easy it is to laugh when teams say that. Not long ago, people would laugh at the idea of teams like Tampa Bay or even Anaheim getting into the playoffs - let alone to the finals - because they were rebuilding.

I think the Pens' time is coming, and the Flyers' time has past. The only constant in the NHL seems to be my Leafs always finishing top-5 in the conference, always beating the **** out of Ottawa, and always folding before the finals. Such is life. Go Leafs.
