In all my years of rooting for losing sports teams, this one is the most maddening. I can handle a team that is clearly outclassed by the opponent and just can't win. I can handle a team that is equal to the other team, plays their best and just loses a close, hard fought battle. I can even handle a team that should be better than another team and just falls apart and loses big (though that's a close one). But this team is just maddening. They seem to be the better of the two teams, but they just don't show up for some games until the second period. This was a repeat of game 3. For a period and a half the Flyers were on vacation. After spotting Tampa 3 goals, they set down their pina coladas and decided to actually play. After that, they were the better team, but you can't spot a team like Tampa three goals and think you can just turn it on and win. Why the hell didn't they play like that all game? They seem to think they just have to kick it into another gear and win without realizing that there is no extra gear in the playoffs - everyone goes full tilt from the start. I'm just more and more convinced that I will never live to see another Philadelphia championship team.

Well Philly itself doesn't suck, just our sports teams. I worked in New York City for 4 years - Watched 3 stinking Yankee ticker tape parades from my office window - and lived in Northern Jersey, so I know all about place you can live that suck. I have to admit if my choice was to become a Yankee fan just to start to get a winning team, I would rather just give up sports, or even life itself, altogether.

Well, know that I'm rooting for the Flyers too, Allah. Hell, they might as well have a big sign on the wall of the locker room that says "Blackhawks Welcome" to make the team feel more at home.

Goddamn Flyers always messing it up for my Leafs. As a Leafs fan I hate the Flyers. As an objective hockey fan I love watching the Flyers and think they're a great team. Too bad (like my Leafs) they tend to fold under the pressure.

Philly did a great job to come back last night. I think they deserve to go ahead as much as TB. But Calgary has heart this year and they will fight hard for the cup.

they didn't always suck. they usually would just wait until playoffs to suck.
DirtyLaundry, good on ya..there will always be a spot in my puck-shaped heart for the penguins, but after lemieux's departure and then Jagr taking off I had to move on after years and years of support.

The Penguins won't suck much longer though. Great teams are like that. Does anyone Remember when Pittsburgh won two cups in a row? Once Pittsburgh rebuilds, they will win again.
But even so, this season they were still fun to watch! The young guys they had were looking pretty good (for being young). Its going to be interesting to see which ones become totally sweet.
Great teams will go up and down, but medium teams stay just that... Medium.

I'm not saying i hate them. I am staying in the bay area for a while so I figured the sharks would be easier to support with the shark tank so nearby. i still have love for them though. when they played the sharks here in february I sat in the stands and cheered for the penguins amongst other sharks.
