Well then, AriesGhost, Arabs are regressing from their lofty place at the pinnicle of civilization since they wipe their a$$ with their fingers, use no toilet paper or toilet bowls, and prefer a large splash of noxious cologne to anti-bacterial soap.

It'd only be worse if they made oooh-oooh sounds like apes and bit the nits out of each other's hair.

And so are we or have you not noticed the slide back into the morality of 100 years ago lately? Or have you been to hung up on what to do with all of the unbelievers of your majestic nationalistic mindset? Or maybe its a lack of Meds, and you're not feeling well enough to realize history is a cycle, and repeats itself every so often?

And again, this is India. You're like a bird and a glass window, you just can't realize there's a barrier in the way.

What part of that statement confused you?

Funny, because the only reason that the Middle East is making any progress in this area is because the US stepped in. Hmm...

Sure sure, just like Bosnia is so much better off? Just like the Phillipines are sooooo much better off? Just like South Korea and Vietnam are soooooooooooo much better off? Damn I'm glad our help has done so much for these nations, I mean sh*t just look at all the good we did Somalia, we fixed starvation in one decade with a small skirmish, oh wait, no we didn't theyre still starving despite our "help." Yeah, you can have your little "uplift" fantasy but the reality is we haven't helped any one on a global scale in high on 70 years.

"... the Arabs in Spain made advancements while the Europeans died of the Black Plague, you can thank the "heathens" for your indoor toilets..." --AriesGhost

Hey, I was only pointing out the irony of those smelly A-rabs inventing the toilet and then squatting over catholes and wiping the **** on their fingers on their robes. Seems as foolish as if Thomas Edison, after inventing the light bulb, insisting on reading in the dark. But hey, you seem to be in love with them, so to each their own.

Me? I've had my experiences with them and the only decent ones that I met were Kuwaities.

Here inlies the fine line that the US has to walk:

If we go out into the world and try to help other nations become more civilized and humane, we get ridiculed for "policing the world".

If we sit on our hands and let the rest of the world deal with their own problems, we get slammed for not using our influence to help resolve these situations.

I'll make bets that you vote Libertarian.

Yes, but the Kuwaitis are like O.J. They're our sand negros. The rest of the camel jockeys won't let them come to Ramadan dinner.

Well if this were true I'd concede a point, however its not, its like saying because you have an outhouse you have to wipe your *** with your hand. These are some of the richest nations on earth, some use it well, compare the standard of living in Qatar, or the Saudi Emirates, to your average american household. And in India they wipe with their hands, its not a genral universal rule that all people from the east wipe their a$$ with their hands, no more than it's a general rula that all Americans wash their hands after leaving a restroom, which is the same, E. Coli is E. Coli wether one or a million on your hand its the same damn thing.

Yeah you're right, we do something we're damned we do nothing we're damned, the real problem lies in knowing what wars to fight. So far in the last 70 years we've done ******, I want out of the UN, let them handle the world, let us handle our own, we have starving in the streets, we need to take care of us for a while. As for my vote, I dont know, my biggest issue in this is a civil matter, not a global, so I dont really have a party. Bush has done ok, Kerry is a case of Bush Lite, and Nadar? Yeah right, I saw first-hand what Clintons "no new roads law" did, I dont need a guy who's chained to a tree protecting all I love to death. I think the war in Iraq was needed, ask a Kurd how he feels about Hussein, I dont think they should be a republic though. They need to choose, for 30 years they've had no choice (longer than that if you count the King before Hussein) you cant dump a completely new politically system on a country and expect them to like it. Hell half our forefathers fought democracy, and at least once tried to install George Washington as King. I play the devils advocate alot, argueing just to argue, i dont care what happens in the Middle East so long as it might help them, today tomorrow or a 100 years from now.

Sadly, AriesGhost, it is true. I've been there. I've seen the sanitation facilities. I've seen the toilets, err, holes in boards over slit trenches. And yes, this was in a shopping mall. And I've seen the perfumeries where they sell cologne by the barrel-- literally --to cover the smell of **** on their hands.

I've seen the boot prints on gold toilet bowls because the Iraqi soldiers who took over the home didn't know how to use something as basic as a toilet. I saw the ***** smeared on the wall from them wiping their fingers even when there was a full roll of toilet paper hanging from the roll. I've seen men and women pooping in shallow holes they dug in the sand along the highway as they drove to wherever they were going in their Rolls Royces.

Your pie-in-the-sky theories hold as much water as do the imaginary toilets in which A-rabs crap. Good job punching yourself in balls, cheese.

So you went into every single home? Checked every single house? Did you pay attention to the demographics? Income levels? Social status?

I'm not saying it doesnt happen I'm saying that to make such a generalized comment as ALL ARABS/IRAQIS <insert other nations name here> WIPE A$$ WITH THEIR HAND is about like saying all americans want to nuke the world.

And what youre getting at here is that they love toilets sooooo much that some one had a solid gold toilet seat made? Why spend money on that if you dont know how to use it? So maybe the conscript soldier who's lived on a farm his entire life didnt get the concept down first pat, lets bring your great great grandma into this century and show her a simple device, say a radio, or a toilet, or even better a car, lets see how some one who's never been exposed to this would handle it.

edit:
There's a term for this, its "Culture Shock"

Boy you sure know how to put up a sparkling defense, it all comes down to something so Black and White as:

Quote:

Never having the wit or talent to reference a point that i ever said that they're savages, in fact I thought it was blaring and obvious I was defending a culture, now why would I defend something I thought of as savages?

Main Entry: 1sav·age
Pronunciation: 'sa-vij
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English sauvage, from Middle French, from Late Latin salvaticus, alteration of Latin silvaticus of the woods, wild, from silva wood, forest
1 a : not domesticated or under human control : UNTAMED <savage beasts> b : lacking the restraints normal to civilized human beings : FIERCE, FEROCIOUS
2 : WILD, UNCULTIVATED <seldom have I seen such savage scenery -- Douglas Carruthers>
3 a : BOORISH, RUDE <the savage bad manners of most motorists -- M. P. O'Connor> b : MALICIOUS
4 : lacking complex or advanced culture : UNCIVILIZED
synonym see FIERCE
- sav·age·ly adverb
- sav·age·ness noun

Hmmmmm none of my points have mentioned them in meanings 1, 2, 3, or 4. Although im sure youll try to pin 4 on me, but then i also made the point that we dont all wash our hands after we use the restroom, and E. Coli is E. Coli, I did reference Culture Shock, however it was in the context of bring an ancestor into our time and expecting them to understand something that simple. However im sure the muddy boot prints were because they thought it was a step ladder huh Totem? Couldn't figure out that it resembled a chair? I mean who doesn't know what a toilet is? i can imagine that they dont contour those boards at all, that they dont take a natural shape after years of use, that the toilet seat was so foriegn in shape they couldnt fathom its strange uses. Or mayyyyyybe it was that to the normal arab the Golden toilet seat would be a status symbol, one that they could never possess, and that to put the soles of your feet on something is the gravest insult you can lay on them. Mayyyyyybe they were trodding a status symbol out of disrespect, and your small and ignorant grasp of a foriegn culture missed that.

Yep, I agree with you that #4 is a close match to Middle Eastern culture, although saw alot of #3 too. What's funny is that even though you sure are wordy, we agree on the same premise: A-rabs are savages.
