An explosion leveled part of a building as American troops searched it for suspected production of "chemical munitions," a U.S. general said. Two soldier were killed and five wounded in the blast, and a cheering mob of Iraqis looted their wrecked Humvees, taking away weapons and equipment.
Part of me wants to say "hey maybe there were chemical weapons there and they scuttled them" but then the more sensible part of me says "No, they wanted an ambush and realized how simple it would be to get us there quickly by mentioning chemical weapons. They know we'd jump at the chance to inspect, probably not taking the precautions we normaly would to vet the intel."
That's all speculation, naturally.
Afterward, dozens of cheering teenagers started to smash the ambandoned Humvees. One child climbed on a hood of one of the vehicles and beat it with a stick. Iraqis stripped the vehicles of equipment, one waving a heavy machine gun, another waving a U.S. helmet. One man sported military headphones.
A group dragged away one of the already burned-out Humvees, doused it with fuel and set it ablaze again.
Yeah, it's just a few bad apples. The average Iraqi loves us. The children are the evil ones, you gotta watch out for them.

I'm not the one whose house has a benjo ditch instead of indoor plumbing. I'm not the one who when faced with an unprecedented opportunity to take a dump in a real bathroom squated on the seat and crapped all over the lid.

If you had said ignorance, I would agree, but you said intelligence and that makes you a racist. Also, do you really thing the american military are going to let them steal a Humvee. When they see an Iraqi driving down the street in a tan Humvee, they will probably say, "Hey look, that guy bought a Tan Humvee just like the ones we use, I would have bought a black one myself." Of course not, since they don't want the americans to be able to reclaim it, burning it is the best option.
I am sure they will manage to keep the helmet, and when the bombs start going off around you, a helmet is actually a nice piece of kit.

Yea, these people chose this lifestyle. When they were 16 they were asked if the wanted to go to harvard and then live in a three bedroom house in Maine for the rest of their lives. They replied, "No, I would rather live here in my own filth!"

It's not our fault they are poorly educated. It's not our fault that their religious leadership wants to turn Iraq into another Afghanistan. It's not our fault that they can't keep order themselves so we have to send in troops to play policeman. I just wish we'd drop bombs on the looters and rioters instead of giving them the win.

No it's not your fault, and nobody said it was. Actually, smash said that it was in another post, but I think Iraq had problems before US decided to start tinkering in the area. Also, the US, and Russia need to take some responsibility for the state of Afghanistan, they were used as a battle ground for the cold war and then thrown away. It would leave a sour taste in my mouth as well.

This is a good way to create more suicide bombers. Let's say you just killed my family, I would be more than happy to carry a bomb into one of your installations and pull the pin. When you take everything that a person lives for, afterwards, they don't care if they die. It's true.
I was just staring at Spock there, and I actually think that the US could learn something from the Federation. After the US cleans its mess up in the middle east maybe they should start following the Prime directive. The trick is in knowing when you need to break it, and dilithium is never ever brought into the decision making process. Live long and prosper, or if you are an arab, die young and be thankful.

Sadly, I know I stand alone on this stance... I'm not afraid of the suicide bombers though. These people doing these acts have no concept of how civilized society views them. They dance in the streets praising murder and chaos. Since when have you seen Americans dancing and shouting religious epithets as people are killed and burned? Bar the KKK and other extremist revolution groups that we have to take care of anyways. The Romans had the same problems with the Gauls. The real problem here is that we don't want things to deteriorate in the Middle East the way they have in Africa. When people resist order everyone pays. In Iraq they have resorted to blowing up police stations and school buses in terrorism. We should be tough on people who relish terror. These people are your enemies and if killing your enemies makes your enemies mad then kill more of them and dont let up. Show them you are unafraid.
