So I was watching a nature show about Equador. Not too much else on, crazy american possibly going to be eaten by something, it's all good.

Then they showedthis tree. In this tree, there was a big patch of hazy white mesh. About the same size as Rhode Island, give or take. The camera zooms in as the dude babbles on about nature and trees and other hippy stuff. Then, as it begins to come into focus on the mesh, and little black specks start to appear, the ******* mentions the fateful words.

"blah blah blah 100 thousand spiders blah blah blah"

Wait a minute, what was that again?

"Yes, over our head here is a community of 100,000 spiders all working together to build a happy spider communtity. Oh look, they're coming towards my face, i think they want to play!"

One ******* Hundred ******* Thousand spiders. And that was just one colony!

The lense finishes zooming in. Yup, I knew it, funnel web clones....

So you can, I am sure, see where I am going with this. Equador has millions, if not billions of intelligent, communal spiders working together to exterminate mankind. We have only one choice. Nuke Equador!

Pros:
  • All spiders dead
  • No one would miss it. I mean, really. Not even the people [li]who live there really want to. we'll relocate them to Brazil or something.
  • Mushroom clouds are purdy

  • Cons:
  • International backlash - mitigate by showing them the spiders first. I think they would forgive us.
  • Possibility of mutant radioactive intelligent commubnal spider survivers
  • The Zeta effect.

  • I think it's worth it. We must act before it is too late!!!! I can only squish so many myself!!!!!

    That's funny.

I'm with you on the spider thing, but we really can't nuke it.

Nope, can't nuke it. I'm sure there is something though...

Ooooh...better yet, let's have Bush send in 50,000 ground troops on the premise that the spiders have weapons of mass destruction! Then he can try to explain why 49,999 soldiers are trapped in a giant web! (C'mon, out of 50,000 soldiers at least one has to have enough intelligence to stay away from a giant web...

    ...right?)

Let me guess...was it Jeff Corwin? Sounds like him.
And he *would* go play in a giant spider enclave. Dude's crazy.

The colony of 20 or 30 newly-hatched spiderlings on the outside of my kitchen window wishes to issue a profound objection to the entire concept of nuking their relatives in foreign countries Smiley: eek

Don't do it, right now we live in an era of peace with the spiders. They have grown and branched out, and are in position to strike should we ever decide to stop honoring our truce.

Spiders eat like fifty times their weight a day in otherwise annoying stinging insects.

    I'm all for em.

    Nuke Equador.
    Nuke the Southwest U.S.
    Nuke Iraq.

Just leave the Midwest out of the carnage and everything's a-okay with me.

Studies indicate that a squadron of genetically engineered harpy eagles or 3 million should work quite well as a replacement.

News item - Large numbers of funnel web spiders have been seen congregating near Sydney Airport. Strangely, the spiders appear to be standing in regular military formation and wearing tiny helmets.

    Brown Recluse Spider

Never been bitten by one of these jokers, but have found one in some boots that I had stored for awhile, and had to kill one that had decided my hat was a great place to hide. Little bastards.
