I came across this link on EQDivas. Its a very interesting look at the city of Chernobyl and its environs done by a Russian woman who rides her motorcyle through the area. Its got dozens of photos, some of which are very eerie.

Totem, are you sure you haven't seen this linked at any other forums you visit? I'm not referring to TOT.

Yes, thank you for linking that. I've always been fascinated with the Chernobyl disaster because it happened on my birthday. It's quite interesting following her journey, some points very sad, and others kinda funny. She's got an interesting sense of humor, to be sure. Must have felt like an odd combination of the Omega (Wo)Man and Rip Van Winkle to ride through that place.

Radiation is not so good at causing mutations, just at killing.

Around the same time as Chernobyl, National Geographic did a story on another polluted region of the USSR and had photos of a line of children from this one village all of whom were missing the same arm.

Town was near a coal burning power plant. No accident necessary.

US coal plants are cleaner, US nuclear plants are safer. Devil is in the details.

My first knowledge of Chernobyl was playing a game of Pictionary as a kid. I must have been 11 or maybe 12 at the time. My sister drew Russia, a nuclear plant exploding, then a t-shirt, then a king with a crown on his head. After making me repeat 'shirt-noble' about ten times our time ran out, then she screamed at me and threw the game board across the room. So I punched her in the back of the head. That is my oh-so-traumatic experience with chernobyl.
