In case anyone hadn't already heard, Martha Stewart has been found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and 2 counts of making false statements.

I wonder who her cell mate's going to be.

Did you see that SNL skit where Martha's in prison and she's controlling gangs and ordering "shanks" because the cons are addicted to her scented pillows?

Hilarious.

And the day after that, we get the Martha Stewart Jailhouse special. "Today I'll be hanging myself with this macrame noose I made out of my toilet paper. It's a good thing."

I doubt she'll do any time. She'll get a nice fine, some community service and possibly probation or a suspended sentence.

She isn't exactly a threat to anyone, just another greedy *****.

I don't think you grasp how serious the charges are.

I do. But do you grasp how rich she is? Rich white women rarely go to jail. The only one I can think of was Leona Helmsley, and they clearly made an example out of her because she laughingly dismissed the notion that she had to pay taxes. I don't think Martha has built up the same kind of ill will that Leona did.

Either way, time will tell.

It's a good thing she has a cybernetic army of Marth Stewrat andriods already constructed for her redecrative invasion of America. One of them will probably be in the slammer and she continues her diabolic plans.

I'd happily bet all of my net worth she does jail time. This isn't a "we'll see what happens" situation. There's a crystal clear guideline on sentancing for the series of charges she's been convicted of. For the judge not to impose *at least* six months of jail time would result in her being subject to impeachment and loosing her seat as a federal judge.

Rich white women Judges rarely give up their seats on the bench to avoid sentancing people guilty of Obstruction of Justice from doing jail time.

You have no idea what you're talking about, sorry.

Even in instances where there is a "mandatory jail sentence", there are cases, very many of them, where no time is served. NY State has a "mandatory" sentence for getting caught with an unlicensed handgun. It's routinely suspended.

This judge has already tossed out the most serious charge aganst Martha - hardly a sign of hostility. Could she do jail time? Sure, up to 20 years. Will she? I doubt it. If she does get sent up the river, and it isn't suspended, it will be a minimal term, most of which she'll dodge with good behavior or some such nonsense.

Look, you're wrong. Unfortunately you won't realize that untill she's sentanced. Whatever makes you happy.

She is going to jail. That's not questionable. Our judicial system does at times follow through with its decisions, you know. And in this recent time of corporate mistrust she may very well be made an example of. The feds are bringing people down left and right, and for now at least accountability is being held.

From what I've heard Martha will most likely get 1 to 2 years, minimal sentences running concurrently. Not much in the face of maximum 20 years for some of the crimes, but for a 'celebrity' that leaves quite a mark.

i wouldn't usually comment buuuut.....
M. Stewart just got found guilty of an insider deal, involving about$120,000. i'm not for a minute saying that she shouldn't be tried and convicted and receive a punishment for what she got caught doing, buuuut....
what about kenneth lay? Implicated more than a bit in the collapse of Enron. Billions involved.....
What about the Worldcom scandal? billions involved.....
what about the systematic gang raping of the U.S. economy by the present administration? TRILLIONS involved.....
what about the systematic destruction of Afghanistan, Iraq, Nicaragua, Guatemala etc. etc by succesive US administrations involving trillions of dollars and thousands of human lives?
What about the destruction of the environment and therefore the health of the planet and everyone on it by corporations such as Enron aided and abbetted by the US administration, and others.....
what about the 'crisis' in the catholic church where it turns out that the moral guardians of a large section of society have been fiddling with children FAR more systematicaly than even michael Jackson has been accused of......

What about saving your disgust and venom and protest for the targets that really matter. Martha Stewart is a distraction, as was Mr. jackson. As is Kobe Bryant.I fear the true problems are not even begining to register on the radar of the average US citizen. If you are reading this you are on the internet. USE the internet as the informative tool it CAN be. Educate yourself on some of the truly despicable acts that are being commited by the business and Govt. leaders of the civilised world.
For goodness sake DONT believe what you read in the press.

Being a WASP housefrau is about to get even more boring.
