n00bie questions to provoke thoughtFollow

#1 Feb 04 2004 at 4:39 PM Rating: Excellent
Hi there

I was looking at EQ2 and decided it was the next MMO I wanted to try after playing Planetside, the contentless SWG and mainly Neocron. When I realised that EQ2 was not an imminent release I decided to look into EQ1. It looked so good that within 20 minutes I had ordered EQ:evolutions and had it imported (I live in UK)

After reading through a few posts I have a few questions that I hoped someone would kindly answer.

1) My friends also ordered EQ but got the New Dawn Gold pack. Which server would be the best for us all and roughly what will server numbers be on it.

2)What is an AA?

3) Is there a charbuilder anywhere like on the alakhazam SWG site.

We are not new to MMOs as stated before but EQ seemed to pass me by whiles I dovoted my life to Neocron.

Thanks for any info

Woody

It's so sad Woody that you posted your questions on the OOT forum, Smiley: oyvey instead of the EQ forum where you might not get flayed alive.
I feel you future pain.

1) All servers are best-just ask the people on them.
2) Alternate Advance points you don't have to worry about them for about 50 levels.
3) I don't know about a charbuilder but Alla keeps track of my stuff.

Well, my reasoning is, Mren jumped on me when I cross posted here, and I became Queen. So, perhaps if I'm nice to cross posters, I'll maintain my Queenship.

You know that if you squint a little bit at the word "Queen" and kinda make the rightmost leg of the letter "n" disappear it spells "Queer?"

For someone with eyesight like Murth, he's prolly's been reading it that way all along...

Just sayin'.

Whereas I don't mind being flayed for posting in the wrong place (I would expect it) I did stumble here by accident - I clicked a link somewhere on site and it brought me here and appeared to be a general posting place.

I am not justifying my noobness - just explaining it ;)

Thanks for replying by the way - the main forum seems to be quiet

Isn't it surprising how a post in the wrong forum kickstarted the longest thread of the evening and your 4000th post hehe

Hmmm... I must have blocked that one out. I don't even remember it at all. Was it the thread where I was talking about my enormous, um... ability to seduce women in pools, dance clubs, and parties?

It's all in "the look". You give the woman the right look, right in the eyes, and when you see that half smile and glance-through-the-lashes look back, you know you're in. Gads! I should just write a book or something...

Gbaji,
It was in a thread long long ago where Smasharoo wanted to know why a friend of his who was being accused of statutory rape should have his life ruined when the girl had passed herself off as an adult. The girl's parents were pressing charges against him. You then made an offhand comment about nailing a young lass in the swimming pool, much to the consternation of our early morning coffee drinkers.

We teased you mercilessly for days calling you all sorts of horrible epitaths until you blew up and cussed us all out.

It was hilarious for the rest of us...

I seem to remember there being two coffee splutering threads where Gbaji has matter of factly spoken of his boning exploits. Can't for the life of me remember the details of the non-swimming pool related one. I think the thread was generally about how girls and boys having different attitude towards sex.

Ah... Heh. I don't remember getting **** about it though, although I do remember the swiming pool thread. Um... I was like 17 at the time, so "underaged boning" was kinda not relevant.

The other one was my "Do Test". Kinda brilliant actually. I should write a paper on it. The idea came about when a group of us were hanging out and someone brought up the old "scale of 1 to 10" rating system. Everyone (males and females) had no problem with the scale system. I proposed a different system. A "Do" test. It's a simply yes or no test. Would you do that person, or not?

The brilliant bit was the sudden difference between males and females when confronted with this test. Guys pretty much had no problems. They could just rattle off a series of yes and no's pretty much as fast as you could show them women. The girls had a really hard time with it. Something like 90% of all women I've ever presented this test to haven't been able to do it. They sit there and hem and haw and say things like: "I don't know. I'd have to get to know him, or meet him", or something equally silly (or not silly depending on whether you're a woman or not).

I just found it interesting. It does show a very fundamental difference in how men and women view sexuality. When applying a simple rating that wasn't outright saying whether you see that person as sexually desirable or not, women have no problems. But when forced to actually decide "yes" or "no" about a desire to have **** with someone, they just couldn't do it most of the time. Heck. I should write a paper on it. That would be funny...
