Now I relize targeting an entire religion because they have a diffrent set of viewpoints is very bigoted. But look at all the Catholic church has done, wars, child molestation, and bombings to name a few. Hell the Catholic church is more similar to a terrorist organization then a church. They control our country by fear and woe be you if you don't agree with there principles because they have a million saps they can easily convince to strap a bomb to there chest and blow up your place of business.

Hell this organization is even goverment supported, if I were to start an organization that follows some intangable 'god' figure, and started blowing up abortion clinics and raping children, I would be labeld a cult and thrown in jail in the blink of an eye. But the Catholic church can do it why? Because they have enough members to be classified as a church instead of a cult, I would take a dozen Manson cult members any day of the week over a million catholics. The fact that they have grown to such a size that no force on the planet can oppose them scares the living **** out of me.

There is a organization, it has a one supreme dictator that rules over millions of a diffrent smaller cells which in turn have 1000s of members each, they have millions of followers. They are one of the most politicly powerfull groups in the world. Thats a scary thought, that one day the group from the local church instead of knocking on my door and bugging the hell out of me could just as well kick it in with a weapon and take control. Who could oppose them? No one, they are so diverse and deeply rooted in our society that we could never hope to destory them all, hell they have even taken control of our goverment! The fact that they take orders from a mythical being thought up thousands of years ago is suppose to put me at ease?

The catholic church is in control of your society and there is nothing you can do about it. They are so large they can rape children with one hand and pardon it with the other. They can tell our goverment, in the face of billions of dollars of research, that THEY know when life begins and who the hell does the goverment belive?

Im scared for the countries future, I honestly belive that within the next 50 years the Catholics will be running every branch of the goverment openly, we won't have senators or ambasadors, we will have cardnals and missonaries.

Stop the catholic church now for a better future for your children.

Well, at least they don't use suicide bombers? I actually don't know any Catholic people. Or if I do, they have not let me know. I personally am more afraid of the Cranberry growers association. Those ******* scare me!

Might as well be describing the U.S. Government. Anyone who has been around a while and has power is scary, since power can be corrupting and we are all just human. Be scared of everyone with money in the bank, or a gun and the will to use it, or anyone running for office. However, just like not everyone is 100% percent behind their government, not all Catholics are 100% behind the Vatican.

I'll pipe up and paste a giant Token Catholic sticker on myself (you may have guessed it since I've spoken Spanish on the boards and most of the Latin American countries are majority Catholic), but I'll also qualify it by saying that the American Catholic is truly a wonder to me. I've never thought that being gay, abortion etc is in any way deviant or lighthearted, I don't presume how to tell people to live, and I figure we'll all die so I can't really preach about what will happen because I haven't been there yet and I can't speak with authority on what goes on. This whole finger-pointing thing is pretty unique to this culture, from my experience.

I wish fear made people vote more responsibly, take action.

And now this is when the arguing on the boards is like running in the Special Olympics argument takes over (if not much earlier).

Scientologists are scary, and yet oddly successful....

Cranberries are good for your health and for sauce, but really useless otherwise.

Well, I was a member long ago and received their newsletters, Magazines and such. After reading them I noticed they are REALLY left wing and have some what I considered to be strange ideas on how things should be.

Don't get me wrong here I'm all for having arms and I have many myself but their ideas and beliefs scared me.

Don’t ask me to elaborate because I can’t. It was years ago and I honestly can’t remember anything specific other than having a strong opposition to what that had printed.

No, you have to be successful, first. That's the only way you can afford the more advanced teachings. :)

Hmmm.

I'd say at first glance that Catholicism is losing its' grip on American life, at least. While the precepts and strictures emanating out of Rome may still hold sway over Latin Americans and Eastern Europe, the Pope doesn't affect Catholics over here much outside of a general admiration.

They are having a very difficult time recruiting priests and are closing many parishes because of it, not to mention the large sums of money leaking from church coffers from the lawsuits stemming from the child molestation cases.

Personally, I like Catholics with their love of knowledge, traditions, and conservatism. It saddens me to see the Church losing its' relevancy due to its' unwillingness to openly purge itself of bad shepherds. On the whole she aspires to so much more...

Catholics scare you? Have you dug very deep into the NEA? What do they control? What are they teaching?

Now that's a scary group with a lot of power.

Organized religion, in itself, can be the devil.

I'd hardly limit it to Catholicism.

I can't see that happening. We have a fairly strong Catholic presence here in the South, but I'd have to say it's overshadowed by Southern Baptists. Now, those are some intolerant f*cks. Most Catholics I know, at least have fun because they can do penance for their "sins." SB's are doom and gloom most of the time, period.

A piece of advice, Mrens. See "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" just for George Carlin's role. Then see "Dogma" (great movie, by the way. Now think of the old George as the new "Holiness."

It puts the whole Catholic thing in perspective for you.

Interestingly, I started a course today in Catholic theology and I have to say that I am feeling a little out of my element. I have had no religious upbringing at all and sitting a classroom with a priest and 70 catholics is a bit daunting. I feel like I'm sitting there in my underpants. Yet, I don't know why. I shouldn't feel threaten but innately, I do. I shouldn't mistrust what Catholics say, but I do. Maybe I will learn to be more religiously tolerant through this experience. /shrug

Just relax and remember this, Taredoru: lips, crotch, wallet, watch. If you're armed with that and you keep your mouth shut they'll never know you're not one of them.

It's supposed to start at your forehead, then heart, left shoulder right shoulder. If you find yourself reaching for your crotch during dinner, you've gone too far.

Better?

Scientoligists, Mormons, and Jehova Witnesses, they all scare the hell out of me to, but none of them have the power of the catholic church. If the president was an open Mormon that would scare the **** out of me also.

First of all, I just want to say that this is a Star Wars Galaxies website, and I'm wondering where the whole religion thing comes in...? If you are scared of Catholics, go see a shrink, they can help you better then gamers can. Also, what you who are against Catholics have been saying, such as the bombings and molestation and stuff... you can't judge the entire Catholic body based on the actions of a few. To my limited knowledge, the bombings only happen in Ireland, and that's been going on for a VERY long time... it's nothing new. Now about some of the Catholic newsletters being left wing, I don't agree with that (being right-wing myself), but how about just disagreeing instead of bashing? I mean I'm Christian (not Catholic), but that doesn't mean I go slamming on every other person who has different views then you.

Man am I the only one here with less then 10 posts? Ach...

All religions have their problems, some just keep their skeletons better hidden in the closets.

That said, there are many fine folks in each religion as well.

Such is life...

Goooooo Catholics!

Oh, and Happy New Year, everyone! I'm back from my holiday travels!
