Who is GWB?Follow

Ya know I'm content with me being me I do not need to create a new identity but I do this about once a year just to stir the mix around a little bit. Generally speaking I'm not one that speaks poorly of many on the forum because a lot of you are good ol' birds. I'm not sure how many remember Duh, Bonk, Jerry Springher or several others but if you remember any of them you will have found the originator of GWB.

Don't take any thing said personal, unless of course you take such things in an anonymous forum that way.

Happy Holidays and I'm glad I could keep the blood going during the slow times of the last week or so.

Give me a break, I'm new. No idea who any of those puppets were. So who are you?

For the love of my sanity, will someone just tell me?

I kind of remember Bonk only because of the "This thread has been bonked!" line, but I couldn't tell you a thing he actually said. The other two are forgotten to me.

Not too hard to hide an identity when the references are that obscure.

Oh the fun of the sock puppet identity game has just begun. I'm not just going to out myself, folks have to work at it. If I can maintain my identity then GWB does not die a quick death.

Damn, Kao. Don't have a coronary on us. Let the guessing go on for a bit. It's not hurting anyone. BTW I know who it is because of the Duh!! thread.

But not everyone gets annoyed by them. Consider it a game of trivial pursuit. Because really it is trivial.

The owner is/was somebody like Mren as I recall.

Bonk would say something that consisted of three or four words and then /bonk at the end of the snippet of what he wrote. Duh was the Dumb and Dumber version of Bonk only he said "Duh!" at people to annoy them. Jerry Springer, as I remember, didn't last long since there was another Jerry that popped up only with a slightly different spelling and the lack of discernable differences between them cancelled them out like matter/anti-matter. Nobody could distinguish between them, so what was the point? He died a quiet lonely death.

GWB has been mildly entertaining for me. It would have been funnier though if he remained in character, adopted the same speech mannerisms that our own heroic RL GWB has, but the cursing, steroidal rage-thing kinda turned it into just another button pusher.

You see, people, if you are going to make a troll/sockpuppet you have to spend some time over on TOT. They know how to do it right because trolls/sockpuppets is what that board consists entirely of and is done professionally. They make a puppet-- generally from a current news event or celebrity --and run with it staying completely in character, but saying funny stuff. They leave their main character to do all the political and religious discussion, blah blah blah so that it is understood when they want a serious talk.

I'm sorry to say, but over here it comes off as being amateurish. But then, if you want to run a troll around, why not go over there and take a lesson from people who know how to do it right? It's one of the things I've learned: don't pi$$ and poop where you eat. And take the play to playground. I've got dozens upon dozens of trolls over there, and am a regular poster, but never bring that stuff here. Why? Because this is me. The RL me. I prefer to maintain a separation between what I do over in other places and what I do here. While you may not agree with me-- and that's fine --it still comes off as a little kid playing dress-up in his daddy's clothes. So while sockpuppets don't annoy me, I just shrug and know that there are others who do it soooo much better elsewhere.

I pictured GWB originally taking potshots at Smasharoo and his ilk, riling them up by defending your decisions and then defering any other questions to a second puppet named Rumsfeld who would vigorously attack and deny anybody who disagreed.

BTW. The Stay out! thread was started because someone attempted to hack my e-mail account. Perhaps that is when I got a little carried away. Otherwise I probably would have slipped away quietly to post another day less auspiciously.

No Skeeter. I'll let the cat out of the bag just to tell you that I don't care about what you or thundra or any of the others think about my charade. ;) I created GWB for my own entertainment and it worked. I've never kept my thoughts or opinions to myself, and I'm not the least bit worried. The jabs at Smash, Thundra and you are what I'd make as Stok, just not so vulgar. Perhaps now though, I'll be a little more colorful in my conversations. :)

Never thought it was you. The attempt was very amatuer, I'm certain if you wanted in it would be harder to detect.
