You're being pretty selective about your "usual suspects". Bush congratulated Obama. As did McCain. As has, as far as I know, every single major elected Republican. Are you suggesting that Pelosi and Obama doing the right thing is to be compared with the posters on random blogs not doing so? That seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

A simple "Yes, I'm moronically comparing apples to oranges" would have sufficed.

If you're going to bring up Pelosi and Obama, then compare them to similar political leaders of the other party. If you want to talk about Varus, then you need to show me some liberals from DailyKOS thanking Bush as Pelosi and Obama did. Cause that would be a rational comparison, right?

That's cute you're trying to think again.

Then in 2004, top al-Qaida operative Hassan Ghul was captured in Iraq. Ghul told the CIA that al-Kuwaiti was a courier, someone crucial to the terrorist organization. In particular, Ghul said, the courier was close to Faraj al-Libi, who replaced Mohammed as al-Qaida's operational commander. It was a key break in the hunt for in bin Laden's personal courier.

Do you just think they asked Ghul nicely to get that info?

I'm sorry? Where did I ever question or condemn Obama's actions here? I happen to think he did the right thing, and I'm glad he did it. I just don't tend to post in "me too!" type threads. I suppose we could all rattle off "this is great!" posts for a day or three I suppose, but that's not really my thing. Had the same thing happened while Bush was president I wouldn't have posted about how great it was either.

You'll note I also almost never post in ding threads either. Same reason. Don't get your panties in a bunch over it.

What? That's your go-to move in these situations. That, or the other version: small, grudging compliment followed by rigging an irrelevant side argument to take out your frustrations on.

As in:

"Well sure, everyone agrees that (insert liberal thing) was good. But that's not important. What really matters, and what nobody here is talking about, is (insert conservative talking point)."

Those, or jump in to inexplicably try to defend varus' trolling arguments.

Um... But not here, right? I have mentioned *nothing* about this, yet Joph just assumed that I for some bizarre reason must have some hate-on for Obama with regard to this operation? I don't. I just don't tend to post in "horray!" type threads. It's not like my posting habits aren't pretty clear by now, so please don't assume by my lack of "OMG! This is so great, and hats of to Obama for finally getting this done", that I'm secretly sitting around stewing about how to come up with a way to criticize him about this.

IIRC the only thing I posted about in this thread was someone trying to make some lame point that McCain wouldn't have done the same operation if the conditions had come up based on statements made during the 2008 campaign. Honestly, I've seen more liberals trying to criticize conservatives over this than the other way around, but let's just ignore all the "Bush failed to do this for X years", and "Bush said he didn't care where OBL was", and "McCain said he wouldn't do this" BS. That doesn't count as trying to use what should be something we can all be proud of as some kind of partisan attack, right?

There are planks in your eyes guys. Might want to look to that first.

Nah, you posted a lame defense of your earlier statements regarding Obama and Pakistan in which you completely misrepresented what he said and your response to it.

You might want to at least be accurate (and honest) about your own dork-ups before lecturing anyone else on planks :D

You're right. There was another post talking about what McCain and Bush said, but I only responded to yours. Um... Are you honestly suggesting that you didn't post that statement as a contrast to Republicans? You didn't mean "Good thing we elected Obama, because he promised to do this sort of attack and the Republican's were against it!"? Cause that sure seemed to be your intent to me.

But I'm sure this is where you insist you had no purpose in posting that at all. Just stating some facts I guess! Um... right. You were taking a stab at the GOP, just like you're condemning Varus and Theif for doing in the other direction.

Again. Check that plank. Heck. You were the very first person in this thread to make a directly partisan post (excepting Ugly's "GOP 2010" post, which I couldn't tell if it was sarcastic or not). So it's more than a bit unfair for you to be the one jumping around condemning conservatives for taking partisan positions on this. I'll point out again that I don't go running off to DailyKOS to read what the nutty liberals there are saying and then hold you to account for it. Yet, that's exactly what you did, isn't it? You actually chose to go to freerepublic to read what the nutty conservatives were saying so you could post here about it.

Dunno. I just find that to be bizarre behavior. And then to follow that up with some statement about how the Dems are being classy because Pelosi and Obama gave Bush credit, but the GOP aren't because random conservative posters on the interwebs weren't? At some point, doesn't it occur to you that if you look hard enough for something, you'll find it? I mean, seriously? You thought that was a reasonable thing to say?
