There are tons of things that the government does that someone, somewhere hates. I bet some of those 'someones' are religious. They somehow get by, though.

A responsible scientist would also realise that as homosexuals make up a much smaller percentage of the population than heterosexuals. Meaning for each one that contracts and STI or STD the percentages are skewed significantly with regard to how likely they are to contract said STI/STD compared to the wider population..
