or it could actually spread even more because homosexuals would be more willing to have sex with other guys they think are married and monogamous.

...what?

Haha, that's almost as retarded as gbaji's assertion that abortion increases unwanted babies because people have unsafe sex solely because they can abort and then decide not to.

One day, when I've got some time to kill, I'm going to make an NCAA-style bracket of bad Asylum poster logic. I'll have to get nominations for some of the old ones that people have bookmarked.

Gbaji would have volume on his side, from a long history of logical fallacy, and I think Alma would give him stiff competition, with a few very strong entries in a smaller library. There are quite a few dark horse entries, though.

I honestly don't know who would win.

That doesn't mean every single gay man with HIV got tested, then got married and got safe.

edit: quote fail.

A responsible scientist would have studied this aspect as well considering homosexuals are more than 50 times as likely to contract and spread std'.s

A responsible scientist interested in marriage would look at that and first ask "were they married?" 'Cause, uh, your link didn't say anything about that Smiley: rolleyes

Really, to prevent HIV we should just ban men.

Nads,

Well according you people std's should be going down not up because gays are allowed to marry.

Incorrect. According to you, STDs among gay men should be rising because now they'll have sex with other gay men. I'd like to see that study, please Smiley: grin

My entire argument revolves around the idea that the govn shouldn't be openly supporting deviant behavior that contributes to the spread of std's.

So your argument is ONLY based on STI rates?
Because it sounds like me, you actually meant:

Where you define what deviant behavior is.

You're right, and she didn't. But simply saying that allowing gays to marry will decrease the spread of std's among the homosexual community (which are more than 50 times likely to contract an std) because they'll be in a monogamous relationship is absurd.

You know what her books says? I can tell in just a few words;gay marriage makes homosexuals feel good about themselves so it's good for society.
It's kinda like how gbaji says abortion won't lead to fewer unwed mothers. It makes absolutely no sense, and instead masks the issue (for gbaji, that abortion is never a "responsible choice", and for you, that homosexuality is always "bad")

Edit: But thanks for saying I was right. I think you either read the source, or made a mistake in agreeing with me for once.

Locked,

Homosexuality is a sin. And a sin the leads to a deadly disease at that.
Critical question: Varus, are you saying that HIV is a disease sent by God to punish homosexuals? Because it sounds a lot like that old 80's spiel.

All you people do is talk about how much better and open society will be if we allow this. I don't see it. In fact I see just the opposite. I see a very small sect of society trying to impose their deviant lifestyle choice on the rest of society. Look at how std's have shot up in the netherlands over the last decade. Is that what we want here?
STIs have risen in the US of A as well. Through a combination of factors - one of the first being... people are actually getting tested! But you are equating sin and disease, an idea that lost popularity with most of the educated world centuries ago.

Quote:
And with what you libs have done, and are trying to do, with healthcare do you think I should be paying my taxes to take care of some homosexual that's caught aids because he/she chose to engage in this sinful practice? You don't think that would violate my rights?
Again, not making sense here. Taxes do not violate your rights - even the Constitution says that.

Going by UNICEFs numbers, the HIV prevalence rate is 0.6% in the US, and 0.2% in the Netherlands.

Just pointing out that if you want to cite religion, that you're going to the same place the people you're condemning are going.

Okay, let's do this varus math.

If sin = disease, and varus admits that premarital sex = sin, and that varus has premarital sex, therefore varus = diseased.

It will normalize a deviant and harmful lifestyle choice.

Putting "deviant and harmful" aside, it will not change how you go about your day-to-day life at all.
